Why the hard time for Cali?

They are advertising often on UK television in my parts, seems nice, my son is thinking of leaving crap rainy weather for there due to the media campaign lol. Seems like here just warm all year instead of wretched winter lol

Tell your son he's going to need at least 800+ a month that's the cost for room rental and even much higher in nicer areas.

Also, tell him to prepare for one of the most competitive job markets in probably the world.

We get lots of ads from California here in oz too.

The weather was one of the reasons I decided to stay here and not go back to the U. K., here we have beach babes in bikinis all day everyday, sometimes they even strip off on the beach, it's warm enough to swim in the ocean for at least 10 months of the year

The weather in .CA is perfect. However, the cost of living is insane. People are leaving the state because it cost too much to live there, especially in northern California.

California is pushing ads all over, also in other states due to more people moving away than moving to there.

Their ridiculous taxes, crime, homeless, out of control socialist policies... are driving people away and they need those tax dollars to keep rolling in.

California is the biggest #hole in the US thanks to their politicians.Worst poverty level in the US now.Texas or South Carolina would be far better choices.Hell,even Afganistan`s not much worse than east Los Angeles.

I'm not sure what skills specifically, but a skilled migrant is one way in to this country, I would suggest trawling through the oz government website.

I turned down a job a few years ago in San Francisco. They offered 250K salary and that (according to the cost of living there) would not have been enough for me and my family to live on.

Besides the warnings you got above, be sure to google California mudslides and wildfires for last 10 years.

250k and cant live sounds nuts, you'd be a king here.

Insane cost of living, they have been hemorrhaging people because of it. They are desperate to get more people in middle class or better to keep the tax income kind of stable.

*shrugs* id rather live in a state with mtns that doesn't leave me feeling like the tax man slipped me a roofie and didn't use lube.
