The BBC, France24 and other news organizations are supported by their respective governments and are clearly "foreign agents of influence."

There's a difference. The BBC ain't a broadcaster that is devoted to propagating a State contrived narrative. RT.com and other Russian broadcasters exist for one reason. Also the BBC is "not supported" by the British government per se.

Yes they are. They are told by the cabinet office what they're allowed to report and what they're not. How the f#ck do you think Ted Heath and Jimmy Savile managed to keep their crimes hidden for so many years?

Open your f#cking eyes.

Well, the other night I was surfing the news channels and RT was showing an in-depth story of what is going on in Syria. Meanwhile, CNN was devoting all it's time to a porn star.

You mean you watched RT justifying Russia's support of a brutal regime while covering up the ongoing genocide, whereas CNN was covering one of the many lawsuits threatening to bring down a corrupt American president? I know which one is more pressing. As a British subject, Trump's legal affairs will have more impact on your life than Russia' s glorious triumphs against "terrorists" in Syria.

Here we go. How exactly is Trump a corrupt President? I mean, I expect he is because all world leaders are corrupted one way or another but what exactly has Trump done that is proven to be corrupt since his time in office?

No they are not. Do your research. The BBC is not run by the British government. RT.com is run by the Russian government, along with several other State broadcasters.

I didn't say they are run by the the British government. I said that they are told what they can and cannot report by the Cabinet Office.

Do your research.

This move does not surprise me in the least. The success of our misinformation efforts depend very much on the manipulation of the public perception, and the best way to achieve that is to restrict and suppress any "news" that is not approved by the Ministry of Truth.

Government and industry cooperate to rig the game.

The Cabinet Office is the department that sets policy for the running of government. They have no jurisdiction at all over the BBC and cannot dictate what the BBC reports, or not. You are wrong.

I won't miss it. There are better sources for your news than blatant pro-Russia and America = bad propaganda outlets. The gullible people who enjoy that news will go to the internet anyways.

Yeah it's not like the news over here would tell us a foreign country is always bad or blame everything wrong on another country like Russia......Oh wait.

I beg to to differ but we could we could argue about it until the cows come home. To think that the government has no say in what the BBC reports is naive in my opinion.

ETA: I stand by what I said about the Cabinet Office. Wikipedia isn't going to tell you this.

Other than appointing representatives of big businesses that are regulated by the government to head the agencies that regulate them? That doesn't strike you as being suspicious? Then there's the way foreign agents can influence him by buying memberships in his golf club or staying at his hotels. He is being sued over that you know. Then there is the mystery behind his refusal to publish his tax returns. Oh, then ther is Jared Kushner being given access to the PDB, and then passing NOFORN intelligence to the Saudi King so he can clamp down on his political enemies. Then there is the way contractors with ties to Trump won bids to build sample sections of the Trump wall...

But Trump is a fine, honest, upstanding man who served his country with great heroism in Viet Nam, right? That's why he said he wouldn't think twice about running into a school unarmed to save students from an attacker with semi-automatic weapons.
