AUSTIN (KXAN) - An officer-involved shooting on Interstate 35 in Round Rock near Old Settlers Boulevard is related to the Austin bombing suspect, a source tells KXAN's Sally Hernandez.

According to local stations there was an explosion on I35 and the bomber is dead. This will be a great relief to the people of austin. Now the only thing left will be why he did it?

it was only ever going to be a matter of time. The guy was too reckless, too much of a hurry. The Unabomber got away with it so long because he took time off in between bombings.

His mistake I think will be mailing through FedEx I'm betting they had him on camera. Thus lead the cops right to him I'm sure.

Ahh damn it! Every time these kind of people get found these days they get offed by the cops.
It's great news they've caught the bomber (If it is them) and of course I can understand officers not wanting to take any unnecessary risks with their lives or the lives of the public, but we lose out on a MAJOR opportunity to learn and understand when these people are killed.

I'm guessing the guy's history will be interesting. Though i believe we ought to beware the possible weaponisation of this guys backstory, once it comes out.

No doubt they had intel on the guy for a few days before this. Just a matter of finding his whereabouts. Too much CCTV around nowadays. You would need to spend months planning a route out just to avoid city CCTV never mind shop owned and private property CCTV.

I think it more likely that they followed the cctv trail of the bad wig and gloves guy and found out what vehicle he was using or some such.

cant wait to read this guys manifesto. wonder what his "cause" was? info should be coming out soon although we still don't know the vegas shooters agenda so i'm not too optimistic.

Then it was deleted by Reddit due to not being found valid.

Well I guess now the question is why was he doing this.

At least they have got him, sounds like a interesting case but its one I have not honestly been following all that closely.

People still need to be cautious however could be someone else involved. And there could be copy cats as well. I have a feeling he was under observation and something forced the polices hand.

Sheriff has just been on the news (live conference, I watched on BBC over here in England). He said the cops identified his vehicle via witnesses and CCTV. They acquired the vehicle at a hotel. They were awaiting specialist vehicles when the suspect set off in the vehicle. They continued to follow and await specialist vehicles. However, the suspect pulled over in a ditch at the side of the road. SWAT started to approach the vehicle and the suspect detonated a device in the vehicle. One SWAT member was "knocked back" and another opened fire on the suspect (LOL. You guys).
Suspect suffered significant injuries due to device being detonated and is deceased.
They can't release identity of suspect because the body has not been formally identified and NOK not yet informed.
