I have very mixed feelings about all the student walkouts scheduled for tomorrow. I am for and understand civil disobedience and know for some things it does work. I'm not sure this is one of them. So the kids protest, I seriously doubt that will have a big impact on current gun owners.

In my opinion the best way for these kids to protest is to stay in school, get an education, vote, run for offices and make the change they want to see happen. I think it is also naive to think this is just a gun issue, there is so much more to what is happening. Bullying, mental illness, pharmaceuticals, drugs, school security, family dynamic, media sensationalism, etc etc.

I have a feeling as with most kids, their views on the world will drastically change within a decade.

Unfortunately the Liberals that have taken over our educational system don't think so.

I have no problem with them exercising their right to protest.

The irony is that they are using one right to protest another right.

But far be it for me to stop people from being stupid.

If it were my kids in elementary or high school, they'd get their butts beat for skipping school.

If it were my kid in college doing this and I was helping pay their way.....they would be "defunded", as I'm not paying for them to go "protest"

Sit them down with paper, pen, envelope, stamps and the addresses of their reps and senators. They can voice their opinion that way.

Useless, as said before, a right to protest another right.

The laws to stop this latest shooting already exist. It wouldnt have happened if someone reported his mental issues to the database.

Similar to not reporting illegals.

I hope the walkout is saturated with posters demanding an audit of the local police.

It wont though.

Kids will do anything to get out of school. Nothing has changed since I was in school, we even started a senior skip day back then. We voiced our opinions that they should have canceled school because it was cold and Blizzardy out.

Now, if all the kids brought guns to school to protect themselves, then I would start worrying.

The mom in me is actually worried about these protests because it would be a perfect platform for someone to make a "statement" if they wanted to. I'm not going to go more into it, but you know what I am talking about.

This almost makes me want to home school my kids. There is no way in hell I want my kids to be brain washed into the leftist ideology of schools now. Students and teachers are more focused on social issues instead of learning and preparing for the real world.

What the hell is wrong with this country? Learning math, literature, history, science is no longer important all of a sudden?

What better place is there for them to learn to be stupid than in our schools.

where are all these kids when one of their peers is being bullied?
they could have a real impact helping each other.

but it's easier to skip school, watch some t.v. and use some talking points to make their "protest" seem legitimate.

Students in my high school formed the National Union of Pupils and staged a walkout to protect the EIS and NUS organizing the teachers strike. Had to call in the police.

Well all but 1 of my kids are full grown and done with schooling.

My youngest will not be participating though for 2 reasons:

1) He's home schooled.

2) He really likes his guns that he hunts with.

Me thinks that not all students are so fond of this walkout. And it doesn't surprise me that the liberal school administrators are kindly putting them students out on the streets to perform this silly protest of theirs. Yuge waste of time really.

These kids were so stupid, they would be funny

The irony of this is, If one wants to do a massacre, these kids just handed them a perfect target. A bunch of kids in one open area.

If they are in a parking lot and someone runs a moving truck through the crowd, do you think they will ban moving trucks?

Isn't that funny, if you walked out of work you'd be fired. That is how the real world works. We are setting these kids up for failure. Some teachers are encouraging protests. My question, why not protest on Saturday or Sunday???????? crickets.

People don't realize how precious education is until it's unattainable.

If I was principal of one of the schools planning this, I'd schedule an active shooter drill for tomorrow.
