Convicted fraudster Martin Shkreli is sentenced for securities fraud related to two hedge funds he ran and to his former drug company Retrophin.
The notorious "pharma bro" gained infamy for raising the price of the drug Daraprim by more than 5,000 percent while running the company then known as Turing Pharmaceuticals.
Shkreli already has been ordered to forfeit almost $7.4 million, and give up his ownership of a one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album because of his crimes.

Oh man, I'm tickled pink.

This guy bought the company selling an affordable drug people needed to survive and jacked the price up because he could.

I only wish he went to a real prison.

lol
that is not why he was sentenced.

they gave him 7 yrs cause he used own money to pay investors on a deal gone bad.

the guy is not as bad as he is made out to be.

the drug you speak of has great flaws and most are better off without it.

I know that's not why he's going to prison... But who cares.

And maybe the drug wasn't good.... But people thought they need it, that's another crime and another topic.

But don't peddle that preying on the sick for money "isn't that bad".

i was not peddling anything and was clear in my statments

not only was the drug not good it was severely outdated

i mean that is his only real problem is that he pissed off big money and they trumped up charges against him

surely you can see that prison for paying people even when they did not deserve it is not a bad deal

name me one other financial manager that would pay you out of his own pocket when you lost monies

You have a point. Our market is a wild west, and unfortunately money usually gets people out of trouble.

He cheated, got caught, and is going to prison. Victory.

While it's a drop in the bucket, and there are surely worse. Maybe this case can be used to take down more sociopaths.

let's hope this is not used again cause it is just plain immoral

it is right in line with the guy getting in trouble with the cops at McDonald for feeding the homeless.

we do not need more of this and this will likely be overturned

I'm sure he paid out of his own pocket to try and avoid his misdeeds coming to light.

Committing a crime and trying to reimburse victims before it gets reported doesn't mean a crime wasn't committed.

not much of a crime

truth is he pissed off the very people you wish would be held accountable

mismanagement of monies is never a crime for money managers unless you piss of the other managers and such

Why so defensive for this guy?

You could always start a gofund me to gain awareness for how this guy is somehow a victim.

I'll even give you most people probably weren't to effected. The insurance companies took a big hit. And it's not just this guy doing it.

And people wonder why insurance is so expensive. Probably because the same drugs here cost more than other countries.

He didn't do anything worth going to prison for except that he pissed off a bunch of people that were emotionally triggered by his completely legal purchase of the company and jacking up the drug price. He is a scum bag, but I don't think he deserves jail.

I realize he is going to jail for investor fraud, but the bottom line is he isn't doing anyone good in prison as a first time offender. If he had been a likable guy he would be on probation right now.

Sometimes the justice system is BS in America.

Why would giving up his Wu Tang album be part of the sentence? That's just cruel. And very unusual.
