I asked which Old Testament traditions are still applicable today, you said, most if not all of them.
But then you start talking about Jews. But then you explain that they don’t follow old testament tradition or laws.

So I’ll ask again, which old Testament traditions are still applicable today?

English and hebrew are not the same

Nor is the understanding of their Messiah as opposed to the "Christian messiah" which is what the NT is all about

There are 613 laws in their religion... most are based on tradition from the Torah

Most sill apply today... to them

Of the 613 laws, you say they are all still applicable today, but only to those who believe?

Do all people of the Judaic faith follow the 613 laws? Today?

What happens if they only agree with, say, 600 of them? Or only 200 of them?

Do you consider yourself to be part of the judaic faith?

no..

you'd have to ask them...

but most of the laws are pretty logical

Do you consider yourself to be part of the judaic faith?

haha... educated in it perhaps

i have no religious ties what so ever...

I know, I’m just trying to figure out why you’re bringing up the judaic faith in a discussion about the old testament? Now that we know that you understand the difference, let’s talk about the Old Testament as compared to modern Christians. Jews don’t follow the Old Testament, so it’s kind of pointless to bring up what they think about this

Which of the Old Testament laws are still applicable to modern Christians?

This is a lengthy discussion... which unfortunately i don't have time for

gotta work tm.... er today (midnights)

but i will say... depending on the sect, all the laws of the OT still apply...

and in some cases only the first 10 apply... which technically were reduced to 2

And those two refute a few of the 613 laws

which means... you likely have some research to do

But i will be back tomorrow...

I’ll let you go. My long point is that none of them are applicable today based on our current knowledge and understanding of how the world works. This can be shown by pointing out that to be a Christian, or even a Jew for that matter, One must follow the rules and codes of that particular religion. I think it can be argued that very few, if any modern people actually follow the rules set out 2000+ years ago. And rightfully so. Those rules or Barbaric and therefore not applicable or relevant in modern times.

I think it is quite fair to point out that those religious laws were not subjective and the consequences of not following them were dire and absolute.

I think it is also fair to point out that modern cultures that have laws that more closely resemble the ancient laws, are not cultures that are looked upon with respect. Even the modern Jews who are old school are looked down upon by most forward thinking people.

Although you may be more educated in the field of jewish study, and i do find these topics relevant, i think you will agree with me when i say that none of these religions should be referenced when sorting out rules for modern society. That is to say, that even if some of those rules or applicable today, it is not because the Bible or the Torah are to be revered as authorities on morality. Nobody wants to go back to those rules with those consequences.

Are you saying being gay and having mixed race marriages are perversions?.
Erm nope.

The purpose of sexual attraction is to direct you towards compatible mates with whom you can successfully reproduce. When you're sexually attracted to someone you can't physically reproduce with, it's a sexual perversion. It's no different than being a 30 year old man who is sexually attracted to 90 year old elderly women or 5 year old kids, or having a compulsion to eat strange materials your body can't actually digest, like plastic.
So, yes, homosexuality is a sexual perversion. You know men can't reproduce with men and women can't reproduce with women.

I insinuated nothing whatsoever about race (nor does the conversation have anything to do with it), but nice try there.

The Hebrews are the ones those apply to specifically. OT laws are specified to be for them. WE are under NT law and only do 3 things.

If it's soooo important, why isn't in the 10 commandments, or 7 deadly sins?
Seems like gay sex would be a bigger fish to fry than sloth, or using the lords name in vain.
Dontcha think?

Adultery is in the 10 Commandments. As God carefully defined what a marriage is and sex outside of marriage is adultery, it is covered by the 10 Commandments.
