I love when people talk about the military budget.
While I agree that the military budget (and the use of the military around the world, also) could be lowered and still be effective at protecting our
own borders (as it was designed to do), it's a mandate in the constitution that it be funded.
Public education is not an enumerated expenditure of the federal government.
You're talking about a system mainly funded by local taxes, yet want to reference the military budget? Come on.
And your approach to property taxes and property value is silly(olyou). Property value is not determined by property taxes, it's the other way around,
and even then, that's not a good gauge, as local governments are notorious for inflating property value in order to take more taxes. The homes'
selling price is what dictates property value, and they rarely sell for said value determined by the government entity in many instances. The last two
homes that we sold (each within the first week of putting on the market, mind you) both sold for lower than the city's appraised value, as did other
homes in the area.
