there was a guy i know, who was emailing an 18 year old girl in high school. she lived somewhere else in the country, and he got upset. she was supposed to move here, move in with him, and get this, get married.

but i wanted to say to the guy, she did not move here, because she had to catch more pokemon in tennessse.

this guy was complaining to me like, you get it right? guy had no clue you cannot marry a girl that young, especially one you never met, only talked to over the phone if ever.

i hang out with girls of all ages, but i would never ever date or marry someone that young. (i go to concerts and festivals like EDC, you meet people of all walks of life there.) thank god im normal, and they look like kids to me, not women.

but some guys are into it, i assume because they want to be the daddy-boss type.

it happens to girls too, all those hot girl teachers hooking up with students. i admit im hypocritical here. when i was in high school we always flirted (as best as an inexpierenced 16 year old can) with the hot substitute teachers. for a guy, i think its fine.

but again, not to marry. that is weird some of these women ALSO want to marry some 16 year old. thats bonkers.

there is a famous comic book artist who got married at 16 to an older chick. they are still married years later.

a friend of mine who is 6'4'' and was that tall in high school dated his social studies teacher. he was 16, massive football player, and she was 24. he was smart enough to realize, never tell anyone. also it was the 70s, so no social media. he told she would take him to concerts. i told him he was the man for accomplishing such a feat! lol.

so again, its hypocritical, but weird. my friend was bigger than me already by 16. so his teacher just saw a giant football player.

girls do not look like that tho. so it makes no sense why an older guy wants a high school or younger girl.

this kind of crap is exactly the reason prostitution should be legalized. if there were hookers everywhere, these guys with weird fetishes could just pay the hooker to dress up as a school girl.

I read at one point that Idaho has the highest rate of child marriage in the US, but that's an older statistic, early 2000's, I think. Via a google search, Pew says W Virginia and Texas, ironically, have the highest rate of child marriage now. However, this only counts 15-17 as the youngest age group, so it's probably not accurate either, Idaho might still be in the lead.

I'm having a rough time finding detailed, verifiable stats for both age & religious rankings. I think we can tentatively suss out likely sect culprits in states & regions from the available info, though.

That's my personal beef with religion, any schmoe can start preaching -and take something that could be a good thing- and pervert it to whatever they want.
If people (and Religions) don't take responsibility for the actions of people that bring infamy and shame to their Religions' name/reputation then they lose credibility and decline.. Religion can and should be a positive thing, that it has often become otherwise is a shame. People are to blame, not anything else.

The logic behind all this is based on both being underage and the girl is pregnant. Right or wrong in today's world it was not based on adults marring underage. I would like to see the data on this since pedophilia is anyone under the age of 12 and delinquency of a minor also rears its ugly head in other cases where one is over 12 but under 18.

It might have made sense at one time, but I think it is all outdated now and we should just have very define laws.

This is a great map showing minimum ages by law, but Is there one showing the number of minimum age marriages? My guess is no, and If there was, it would show no more than a few (less than 10) at most. Most (the vast majority) of the rest would be teenagers eloping without their parents consent.

I think religion does have a hand in it so does some cultural aspects plus poverty.
I can not find any atheist groups pushing for the age of marriage to be lower though.
