Fortunately, this is not a decision even the President can make. The ownership of firearms in America is understood to be an inalienable right. Anything threatening that is gonna lead to a fight and serious bloodshed.

Bloodshead?

Now that sounds threatening. Who ya gonna shoot?

All poloticians who want to strip the 2nd would be the optimal target to people such as that.

That kinda sounds like Trump doesn't it? As much a I dislike Trump, I definitely wouldn't support that.

I think he may be realizing that he is sinking fast and this is nothing other than a move to placate liberals and to get them thinking ''well maybe he isn't that bad after all''

Breitbart ain't too happy, calling Trump a "gun grabber"
makes a change from grabbing anything else...

much like the immigration meeting stunt, Trump will say anything to please the crowd in the moment but in the end, the hardliners will get in his ear and he'll fall back in line with the establishment.

It's this of course. More lies. He was in his "studio" again too, he apparently likes to perform in there, and perform he did.
So concerned about school safety. : @@ :

Pfft.

i actually like where trump is going with this. as long as there is enough credible evidence to prove the accused is making threats and has the weaponry to carry out said threats, i don't see what the problem is with taking away their guns while due process works its magic. every idea and proposal should be shared and listened to, at least he is coming up with some ideas.

Not fond of this. Hell, I'm really pissed. His words on this today shouldn't be taken lightly.

Not what I voted for.

I voted for Pro-Business / Anti-Abortion Trump.

So youre fine with Pre crime then? There is something you could argue that similiar to when a cop arrest you. your due process comes after. is that what you are talking about?

I'm interested in your take on how easily he tossed out the idea of throwing due process out the window. To me, this is just another example of what I see as authoritarian tendencies. What's ironic here is that for all the talk about gun grabbers Obama et al, the DOJ under Eric Holder was so circumspect that they didn't even go after low hanging fruit like bump stocks, determining instead that they didn't violate federal law.

I find it troubling and worrisome that he (IMO) haphazardly throw out multiple constitutional violations in favor of authority. So, yes, authoritarian tendencies indeed.

Holder in his obstruction of fast and furious wouldn't be too far from this. Also, his views are documented.

"What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that’s not cool, that it’s not acceptable, it’s not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we changed our attitudes about cigarettes," Holder said. He later added, "We have to be repetitive about this. It’s not enough to have a catchy ad on a Monday and then only do it Monday. We need to do this every day of the week, and just really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way."

I voted for the disruptive, hypocrisy pointing and animal farm exposing Trump, WHILE not messing with anything that would even border on loss of rights for American citizens.

If someone is making threats, go take the guns, documenting the guns and keeping them safe till after the hearing on the matter. We need to revise the law a bit. This should require a court order, probable cause. The firearms could also be given to a close relative to hold. That relative should be held responsible for making sure the person does not get them till after the hearing. If the person shows up to get the guns from the relative, that relative has to report them taken though, as soon as they know it has been done.

As long as the law doesn't get twisted so they take away the guns of someone who yells at their neighbor for tossing their leaves in their yard, I see no problem with this. Also, it has to be shown that the person is actually the one that made the comment on social media. Anyone could start a Facebook page on someone else. I never had to prove who I was when I made a page.

Trump said some controversial things and pissed off some people in the process?

Wow, that's totally surprising.

Think he might have pissed off the "right" bunch the wrong way this time...

There are four (at least) states which have exactly such a law, like a restraining order. Donald thinks that takes too long. If he thinks at all.

Yeah, it's weird. I don't like it either. It's uh, unconstitutional.

Tell ya what I would go for though. If someone posts all over social media that they are going to kill some people, and they put up pictures of themselves with their rapid fire guns and magazines, I think the police should be able to make a little house call, complete with search warrant.

If there's an arsenal there for material evidence, combined with his statements on social media, they should be able to take him to the nearest nut-house. Even against his will.
I would totally be in favor of that.

Although many large state mental institutions have been shut down, there are still many forensic psyche facilities open.
(for the criminally insane). Fill 'em up with these monsters.

Trump said something unpopular in a meeting again?

By now we should know to watch the exchange in its full, instead of being led by the febrile emotions of some pundit.

Again it’s Trump in pure, brilliant form, spitballing, having a debate, in the very same meeting where he leaves it to law makers and the states.

Not just gun control, gun confiscation! Trump wants to literally take people's guns away. Due process be damned. After 8 years of Republicans screeching how Obama would round everyone's guns up! Wild.
