*Facebook rant*

First off, the simple fact: I hate, loathe, and despise Facebook.
Now, the why:
Facebook seems to take great and total glee in censoring me to death. I posted a cat video with the Amok Time fight music on it- It gets silenced. There's a video of a crab with a knife, damn music's completely intact, and it hasn't been silenced. I got banned for posting to their fundraising tool the following:
"Last October, I ended up in the hospital with a massive, disgusting abscess on my neck. The hospital (being all non profit and charitable) wants about $1300 for the stay, and $900 for follow up doctor visits and such. We just don't have the money to pay it all like they want. We just DON'T.

I have done this sort of thing in the past, and kind of expect this to go down in flames- but hey, it's yet another way to fail big, and then limp home. If I somehow manage to obtain the money to pay them off, *wonderful*. If I don't, meh. We go into debt, and have collectors call us without end."
I got THIS gem, followed by 13 days of being cut off from their craphole of a site:

Followed by this cute number:
"You’re Temporarily Blocked From Posting
This temporary block will last 3 days, and you won’t be able to post on Facebook until it’s finished.

I was able to finally log in, after being given a block of text treating me like I'm a naughty toddler.
After that, they silenced the video, after I had the wife log in, and transfer the video to her page.

Facebook is a fascist's wet dream come true. I refuse to be bullied by a money soaked corporate piece of slime- and will not be returning.
I suggest others rethink their online life decisions as well. All it takes is one of those algorithms to mutate and start chewing on your rear end... and then, it's all over. Think you'll get help? NO, you will not. Recourse? Forget it. I contacted a few lawyers. Attorney general's office? (Mostly for the despicable banning explained above) HA.

If nothing else, back up what you hold precious on there- or it can all be taken away with one puff of mismatched math. Or a nasty asshole who wants to make your life a misery.

Facebook isn't mandatory. Yet.

I only go on facebook to check what my relatives are doing. Most times they are just eating out or going to some kind of function or traveling around the country. That is it, I don't create threads there or do much more than comment on something and like people's stuff if I know them. That is a way of telling them I am still alive. That's all. I really do not care to get addicted to it. I know lots of people who are.

I made a video years ago using a common old porno theme tune, and it was removed for copyright infringement. Same with a video of benny hinn pushing people over, sped up and put to the tune of yakety sax. Your music choice is copyright, I guess.

And now they've made it so youtube videos link off site to the youtube page, unless it is in the comments, where it will play embedded. So I've had a few videos muted for uploading them direct.

ATS is my only social media..not only do i not have a Facebook account ,I made sure all my relatives know not to post my pictures.

I could give you my real name and address and all you would find is me being listed as a registered voter..

People seem to forget just because it's free face book is not a public service.. it's not a democracy or a republic, you are not guaranteed free speech and anything you say may be censored or held against you....

Also...

Wylekit wants to know why you didn't like her selfie being photobombed by Snarf....

The immigration officer asks you for your facebook password.

If you try to tell him you don't have a facebook account, he'll think you're just trying to prevent him from doing his job and checking your social media accounts to see what connections you have.

Then, he'll stamp "denied" in your passport, and turn you back.

Lol, they wanted my phone to look through and I outright refused. They still took it, but it was flat, and they didn't have it long enough to charge it. But I was still told that they could legally do so, if I refused...

Obnoxious cretins. Oh yeah, stamped denied and sent back also. No visiting Mark Twains old home town for this obvious terrorist white 40 something Aussie... Allahu Koala !!

To be fair, I also said I'd never use it again.. then I returned, my so called family had still not told me when my uncles funeral was at, and I told them all in no uncertain terms what I think of the so called blood kin.

Liberating, pruning people who are never there for you, when you have a medium to tell them so. 20 years, nothing. last few years as they all fall off this mortal coil, oh I'm a loved family member.... but they still are the same.

I thank facebook for giving me the voice to say that would otherwise have left them thinking I give a stuff...

oh we lolled and laughed... well I did.. they pm'd me and texted me, just one block after another.

Nope- I'm done with it. I loaded the video up on the wife's account because it was that darned funny, and she wanted to post it. It was an 80 meg monster, on my phone, and her phone doesn't really do file transfer without the sacrificed chicken and the wind going the right way.

Paid or not, their ability to outright bully someone and hold everything they have on that site hostage- if not outright permanently denying them to at least gather what is theirs is *wrong*. Especially, ESPECIALLY for no good reason. If you're a jerk and post crap that offends everyone, that's one thing. However, STILL, you should be given a fair shake to appeal.

It would be like me coming to your house, picking the lock on the door, eating your food, drinking your beer, and when the cops show up, they arrest you for bothering me. I then get to take a dump in your living room, and set fire to your photos and other personal items.

All i see are people being fake as hell. It is very much a "Look at me!" Platform for people to brag about themselves on.

You left out the 'lowest common denominator crap that wins first prize for popularity' insanity. I could make a thought out, well worded statement, pun, or joke- to be superseded by "I eat my own poop". I tried an experiment. Someone was taking the 60s Spider Man theme song, and people were putting their own spin on it, using Superman, Stan lee, etc. I did the Hulk. Pretty much "HULK SMASH!" put to the song. It was an instant hit- and confirmed a lot of suspicions I had about FB in general. It was similar on Imgur. I put some of my 1/6 scale photography on there- and it got *downvoted*. I was also asked the most idiotic, insipid questions I never thought could be conceived by a human mind. Yet, post a half naked girlie, and watch them upvotes pour in. I was doing it to get feedback on my work. I decided it wasn't worth the frustration.

I quit Facebook over 3 years ago and encourage others' to
do the same.It is not a safe place to be in at all,even more
so for conspiracy minded individuals.

I don't get facebook or social media as a whole, I use it here and there just to see if any family have sent a message via Facebook.

I tend to see it as a device to get into peoples minds in a much easier way than ever before when using TV/radio and newspapers was the way to manipulate society into a direction its intended to go by those holding the reigns.

Before a universal method needed to be used which would not work on as many as intended via media of old.

Now, with all these sites and programs that get you to upload what you are doing, where you are, whats on your mind, what mood your in makes life easy for those that have the means to gather the intelligence and create individual methods to interact with and influence you.

The above is to highlight a more sinister targeting,

But the same methods can be used and programed to sell you things.




It just popped into my mind that I believe there have been threads about the terms and conditions of Facebook on ATS that highlight some of the things that would make a paranoid conspiracy theorist not join if they actually new what they were agreeing to when joining.
