Admittedly a very weak form of gun control, but a very welcome move.

Thats how they been eroding gun rights since forever; one feature at a time.

Thats what the second ammendment word 'infringement' is there for.

They knew that private ownership of firearms would be steadily infringed upon, until the citizenry was completely stripped of the right to Keep and Bear arms.

Firearms are not going away. Changing the age or making new laws doesn't stop would be law breakers. There will always be someone wanting to make money in a black market.

Ban firearm? I suspect it would be difficult to get a large turnout for the take away team anyway. Also should this become the agenda, some folks will be too busy with other pressing issues to go on the roundup.

Freedom is not having to lose my rights because of your near pathological fear of an inanimate object. See, others can do that, too.

I guess you will lead the charge to ask gang bangers to hand over their guns because hey that's what you want right? Taking guns from evil and irresponsible people. Fine by me. Maybe you could ask all these children to start protesting gangs next that would be great.

You expect far too much.

I'm not saying the op speaks for everyone with similar views but it has been the norm for them to claim that discussion matters and should be had only to fade away at the first counterpoint.

If anyone is ready to solve the problem of murder, I suggest starting at the ends and not the means. IMO, culture.

Those who want to ban firearms do not want to be on the take away team. They expect our own sons and daughters in the military to do it.

I think they will be in for a rude surprise if they try that.

I didn't say anything about banning all firearms, but bumpstocks, large capacity magazines, and military weaponry would be good.

I think we both know that is an understatement despite what many will say and believe. Nightmare level for those in power.

Thought experiment. Define military weaponry. Or weapons of war, if you like.

Curious to the views on this.

The government is counting on it.

How else will they suspend your liberties?

Even though Trump is supporting a ban on bump stocks, I am truly doubting it will pass. Besides it being a really boneheaded move that resembles an Obama style move, it won't stop crazy people killing others. It's like putting crap on your band-aid and expecting the wound to heal. Which pretty much describes the brain power of anyone supporting a ban on bump stocks or AR-15's.

Soon enough you'll get enough people that don't want freedom.

It's a start.

The biggest threat to freedom is fear created for more security. The terrorist have done their job well.

Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, and President Trump are now all on record as supporting banning Bump stocks. Admittedly a very weak form of gun control, but a very welcome move. Scott and I believe Trump as well are also supporting raising the age for purchasing assault rifles, which is even more important IMO. Now with companies starting to divest from the NRA I can't see us not getting at least one or two gun restrictions in the near future.

It would be a token Obama style move that would probably be a good starting point to allow some more logical solutions. I'd support law to at least raise the age to buy a gun, way stricter mental health background checks and way to flag such people. Have some form of "school marshalls" at schools and put the heat on the FBI and law enforcement to do their jobs. Also adjust laws so that they can act on crazy people threatening people's lives.

Freedom is not having to worry about being shot.

Neat. Tell that to the people of Nice, France.

I'm sure they all thought they were free from being shot.

And... the kids we in a gun free zone in the school.
Laws made them safe too.

An AR-15 is a weapon of war since other than cyclic rate it's the same weapon as the US Military M-16.

& as you people have repeatedly pointed out the fire rate of a Civilian model AR-15 can be increased with a bump stock or a rubber-band to that of a Military grade M-16.

K~

The bump stock Vegas shooting didn't even happen at a school.

Do you really want gun control!!?? There were 4 armed officers at the Florida school that sat outside until all the killing was done. If your child was in that school wouldn't you want someone other than the shooter and the inactive officers armed!?
