I understand what you're saying, but there has and always will be symbols of ownership.

That other disease, ownership.

Used to confound Native Tribes about the white man.

He declared ownership of land. Planted flags, lol.

Not having flags didn't seem to stop them from attacking each other very much.

The firstEuropean settlers were saved from starving by the locals who came to their aid. Boy are they sorry. They should have exterminated them right off.

What does that have to do with the Native American tribes being at war with each other?

Oh, you guys are discussing that? All those tribes came to the usa from the canadian region. The American Indians came down in tribes and took the land from red headed people.
The Indians were very tribal and always fighting amongst themselves for land and resources. The Cherokee are a bit different. They are white with caucasion features. Share the same DNA as the Scottish.
Weird huh?

Who invented the idea of a flag anyway?

The most divisive icon ever devised.

Nothing but death and tragedy have resulted ever since.

Lets rally round our flag, and trash theirs.

Ban flags!!

They're so mean, up there on poles, waving in the wind, minding their own business.

What's the worst thing a flag every did to you? I remember one time my brother was waving one around and it hit me in the face and almost knocked my sunglasses off. Can you believe that?

Unbelievable I say.

Unbelievable is right. People follow flags everywhere! Blind leading the blind into the ditch.

They weren't, for the most part. That learning you have is just as false as the one says 'Indians' were all Heathen, red skinned, murdering savages.

Just about any cowboy movie will confirm that conditioning.

Ill treatment still goes on today. Look at what happened at the Dakota Pipeline .

Not to derail the thread, but perhaps you'd like to open a new one detailing your references for those claims...aside from the inter-tribal conflict, which is a given.

She is no dumber than Americans who claim that Hitler was a left winger and that fascism is a left wing ideology. She is no dumber than Americans who think that universal health care is something Hitler invented.
Sarah Palin was a relevant politician in USA not so long ago for crying out loud!! This just shows how dumbed down some of you Americans are.

Where you from? Norwegia?

If he is from Norway, then he is the most stupid Norwegian in my country. Hitler was Left wing (extreme left wing). Nazi stands for National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei). Last time I checked, socialism is a left wing ideology.
It was socialist in name only. It was far right wing on virtually every front, as actual historians and political scientists agree. Just shows you don't know which regimes were classified as which historically. Also, the Nazis eliminated all known leftists especially communists. Most of their propaganda said they were saving Germany and Europe from communism and leftism generally. Their soldiers believed that. Furthermore in the Spanish civil war they supported Franco the right wing dictator versus the leftists who opposed him.

The absolute irony is this supposedly educated person just assumed a Scandinavian was a racist hillbilly. I guess she never actually talked to her neighbour's. Because me thinks 2 seconds of interaction would have dispelled all her white nationalist fears only to show her that the neighbours belong to one of the only groups of white people on the planet who get a pass from leftists...
Scandinavians.
By collective default programming this "author" should be groveling at these Vikings feet. But her desire to virtue signal overrides all reational thinking. This is what a modern education does to people...
While it's true that conceptually the intellectual end of the left acknowledges Scandinavia as having good systems, here in the US more than a few social justice folks project on to me as a blonde haired, blue eyed person of Viking descent. I think blondes trigger people more than dark haired people due to historic media representation. This goes back to these Norwegians. Many liberals and sjws in person react stronger to people who look like that, based on my personal exp.

Complete with adress, I ask myself it is was pure intent.... "I don´t want to knock on their door".

Guess what woman, because you have no spine to go there yourself and embarass you in the end, you´re delivering an accurate location to the press and even ask "maybe there is a story".

(short summary: "Eyes open! Spy on your neighbors, colleagues, friends and relatives! Everyone is suspicious! Immediatly alert your local security office! Only surveilance will protect us from acts of terror")

Interesting because the other day I was in Barnes and Noble, and thought I saw a great book to read, but then I noticed the author was Rebecca Morris. My Bad.

For some tribes maybe. At the same time, groups from the Sioux to the Aztecs practiced empire and efforts to achieve dominance over other tribes and lands. They also were willing to fight to keep lands.. One thing that has been proven definitively false by anthropology is the so called Edenic myth of some kind of unspoiled, natural, land peaceful paradise. Same with the "myth of the noble savage." Do not mistake this as apologism for European colonialism.

Nor confuse it with the treachery and murder perped by Europeans, once they got here. Their culture, paranoia, diseases, ethics, religious fervor, waging war, and genocide, made whatever Natives were doing look like a picnic.

You are still operating from a noble savage perspective. The Aztecs were as bad and as brutal as any imperial force ever. So much so that multiple subject tribes joined Cortez in fighting them. That's the only reason he and his crew prevailed. The main difference across the Americas is the Europeans had more advanced tech and weapons, plus the diseases they brought which wiped out 90% of those that died. However, I abhor the colonialism they practiced and the fact that most native cultures were destroyed.

Aztecs, huh?

The founding fathers were human and imperfect. They tried the best they could to establish a republic for us.

Even then it was a rare thing, following on the French Revolution which Franklin witnessed firsthand, the American Bill of Rights wasn't even part of the Constitution, because eternal Loyalist influences at the time voted it down.

"Yah okay, we'll allow it as a separate document, if you give us Supreme Court Justices for life."

Nyah, Nyah, say all the Kings Men.

The eternal struggle to preserve those rights is being lost, what are you doing about that?

The woman seems rational, she even pointed out that a story that could be derived from this piece is that she mistook a Norwegian flag for a Confederate flag - exactly what the O.P. thinks is the story. That would be a story about a hyper-sensitive political climate.

It looks like she was curious as to why the "Confederate" flag was flying in the neighborhood, as any good writer would be. I see that there are apparently Norwegian flags that routinely fly in the Seattle area, a fact she can be forgiven for missing, she even admitted she was wrong.

Let's not confuse her with irrational liberals, I've seen threads written about them on here. She made a simple mistake and admitted it.

LOL I like how she blames the "Political Climate". Just admit you over reacted and move on. Now days when people get triggered and are proven wrong they want to place blame on someone or something else other than their own ignorance

True, she made a mistake and admitted it, but she blamed it on the "Political Climate" so yea, she admitted it but she is not taking responsibility for her ignorance.

so then most historians and political scientists are also in a fantasy world? Also, can you review the points I made and show how they were incorrect? Right wing is not defined by recent American republican redefinitions.

Another glaring proof that despite their projections onto conservatives, it's the liberals that are grossly uneducated and ignorant, even so called "elite" liberals.

There is a reason why they are called Libtards.....
