Excuse me, but...

"State police did not say if Filippidis would face criminal charges. "

Criminal charges for disappearing? How messed up the US is?!

They did not say he'd face criminal charges. Did you read that as he would face criminal charges?

To me, this sounds like some sort of dimensional portal or alien abduction case.

Ground zero with Clyde Lewis talked about this last night so listen to the pod cast. People suggested he hitch a ride and that means someone drove him rather quickly to CA with bad weather in many places. Plus who would drive a guy with a cut on his head for 5 days, I guess, buying his food etc. No bath...no nothing...seems a person would drop him off at a police station or hospital first.

Well, that would be the simplest explanation.

Why is it impossible, somebody picks you up with his car and that´s it. Nobody was searching for him yet, nobody knew the guy before. Why should it be impossible to travel unseen from there to sacramento?

Why should he not find water or food somewhere, if he maybe really was missing in the boondocks?

He is in good shape, so he ate and drank. And you don´t need a toilet to pee or to take a dump.

Logic says something is strange, even mysterious with this story, but it has not not necessarily to do with something superantural.

How can you fed him while he was "blacked out" without using an IV?

How can you erase someones memory without beating them to a pulp? What normal or average criminal has tools to erase memory like that.

What pill or narcotic could someone take that would be untraceable in a blood sample to knock somone out for 6 days straight or erase memory?

Alcohol. Copious amounts of alcohol is the answer to your three questions posed there.

This story is not one bit strange, if the guy is an alcoholic. Everything about it screams alcoholic bender.

Are there no other drunks here on this site but me? Seriously people, you're looking for a supernatural explanation but every thing about this case fits a blackout alcoholic.

The articles are saying he doesn't have a history of substance abuse. And that could be true, to the people he's been with the for the past few decades. If this guy is old enough, he could have been a blackout alcoholic years ago, and then gotten sober before he started his current life with his wife and Fire department, so none of them know his drinking history. All it would take to set off a week-long blackout would be one drink.

Not sure he had a visible head wound, the head injury thing came from him saying “ I must have injured my head”. I’m speculating he might have thought because he had memory loss.

Still though it’s all very odd.

It's interesting because the guy showed up again. There are a lot of stories where people go missing and they just stay missing, so there's no real payoff.

Remember a while back when a woman just disappeared for a while and then showed back up with no real explanation? Not "Gone Girl," but in real life? Let me see if I can find it. I think this might be what I'm thinking of:

Woman Missing for 11 Years Found

I have not read through all of these responses yet but i did want to say, they might be able to track the cell towers his phone pinged off of along whatever route he took. If there was an abduction or a portal of some sort and assuming he didn't turn the phone off manually there should be at least a few hits on a cell tower, whether it was crossing in/out of roaming (another cell carrier's service area would log a cross carrier connection for the purpose of roaming plan billing reciprocity) and if he flew, he didn't got through an airport with his ski gear on, at least that's what I would believe.

Trace the credit/debit cards for transactions and the phone carrier's ping log and they might figure this out. They could also use the phone locations to locate possible surveillance cameras and pull footage to see if they can find out more.

I would love to hear the official story once they sort it out and then see what the ATS community has to say about it.

we can walk a mile in 15 mins (average so + or - )
so if he was 2900 miles away
also skiing will be faster than walking, he may have skied some of it
depending on if downhill... treacherous... so on so forth
and if snow was present throughout his entire his trek
so back to 2900 x 15 mins = 43,500 minutes need to walk 2900 miles away

60 mins in a hr x 24 hrs in a day = 1440 minutes in a day for walking

he can't walk without resting...

1440 / 15 = 96 miles walked in a week with zero breaks.

96 x 7 days
672
672 miles if he walked nonstop with no breaks at all after 7 days a week

Hypothermia can cause a state of non awareness, snow = cold
Rough terrain will slow the walk down

Yeah I don't see how its possible

:/

He hitched a ride.

Missing Canadian skier found in Sacramento says he rode in a big rig, deputies say

The Canadian skier found in Sacramento after an exhaustive search for him in New York told local deputies he was dropped off here by a big-rig driver sometime Monday night, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Constantinos “Danny” Filippidis, a Toronto firefighter, was wearing the snow gear his friends last saw him in Feb. 7 before he went missing at the Whiteface Mountain ski resort in Wilmington, N.Y., prompting a massive search that included state and federal agencies.

...

Filippidis, 49, told deputies the last thing he remembered was going skiing in New York, and that he believed he had some sort of head injury but could not remember exactly what happened, according to Hampton. He mostly slept while in the big rig, and deputies believe he purchased a cellphone at some point.

Again, lots of weird stuff happens all the time with more disastrous consequences, for instance that new school shooting people are talking about those are all weird, and in this story it seems almost mundane. Guy goes missing is found a week latter some 2'800 miles away.

Says he does not remember how he got there so he got some cash and a haircut then hitched a ride to the airport, and your worrying about the truck driver that drove him to the airport?

I mean why not just take a cab, after all he had $1000 on him? But whatever like you said lots of people go missing skying in the backcountry, I mean sure they are found latter in the same spot, but maybe those that are not found latter in the same spot, is because there not in the same spot.

Also sounds like one hell of a mushroom trip or a meth head gone on one of there trips. Just because they do not know how he got there all the way in California, does not mean he did not get there. I think crackheads have made farther trips magically for more wackier reasons. And then remembered absolutely nothing afterwards.

Here is one claiming to ride his bike, all while looking for a non-existing cat in the sewer. Point being you can learn almost nothing from these snippets of stories you read online, almost absolutely nothing. And also it may have been aliens, but there a whole lot more circumspect then this little abduction, if it was an abduction.

So says, he. He also says he has no idea how he got into the big-rig. No one, outside of himself, has corraborated his cross-country, big-rig excursion. The sheriff’s department hasn’t confirmed he hitched a ride simply, reporting his account. So, no, there’s zero evidence he “hitched a ride”, only what a man who can’t remember (allegedly) how he even got off the mountain 5 days before is saying.

This is truly bizarre and no one has came forward to corroborate anything the firefighter has claimed after his return to the tops of the slope for his ‘final run’ (pun intended).
