Hey ATS,

For those who cant sleep, or need some philosophic distraction, i will try to stream live a little square cm of my aquarium live for a while.

What's inside?

I started with a handful of garden dirt, a few rocks and a handful of pond dirt.
After a few days I put in 4 shrimps a year back now. They happily mated and i occasionally take a few out to put in my indoor river. (farming)
All other animals just popped up/
As for the other creatures, as far as i can tell:

- red shrimps ( At least one carrying a bunch of yellow eggs)
- Asellus aquaticus ( GIANT fresh water lobsters )
- occasionally one baby guppy for balance
- Some kind of Daphnia
- Some kind of worms
- Snails
- Occasional pop up creature's of alien origin

Enjoy!

Tnx!

Yess the shrimps are fun to watch.. when they are in focus you can see them funneling to the top layer and making a nice vortex of debree in the water.

Experimenting is fun.. I added some bakers yeast two weeks back.
Having two weeks cloudy water in a row now.. I have learned it is a bad idea : )

Everyone in that tank is spunky and very happy. It's loaded with life forms. Fantastic job! It seems you've found a great balance by just using a little bit of this and that from nature. Super impressed. Thanks for sharing.

Thats a great compliment.. for me.. and for nature !'
IMHO it is showing the abillity of nature to thrive, it needs just a few parameters ... and a little less human

Tnx!

Some observations this far:

- I have seen a bloodsucker or two.. but they vanished
- After my brilliant idea of feeding some live yeast i suffered a large shrimp die off
and cloudy water
- I sometimes put a fish in it, either to quarantine from another system or to maintain some balance as a predator

Some actual observations:

I noticed actual behavior in snails and worms and shrimps.
• Grazing patterns along the enclosure
• Not only incidental behavior but also group behavior.
• Direction sense.
• Patterns
• Preferences
• Satisfaction
• Sex
• Re-reproduction

Some philosophic observations:

• You do understand that this little globe could be your aquarium!

Hey oplossing

I never heard of Sea Monkeys, so i Googled a little.

That's where it starts to be confusing.. Wikipedia does not have a Dutch explanation, but i did got a reference: " Pekelkreeftjes " Isn't that a beautiful name? ( pearl-lobsters)
Summarizing: We do have observed a lot the last 200 years but connected a shameful little,

Cologne..

As i like languages and history..

I will give you a few saying we use in the Netherlands about Cologne ( for free!! ; )

kijken of men het in Keulen hoort donderen (=heel erg verbaasd kijken)
op dat mes kun je naar Keulen rijden (=dat mes is erg bot.)
staan te kijken of men het in Keulen hoort donderen (=erg verwonderd staan kijken)

Edit:

I add one not found in literature, but used in the region i live:

"Ergens tussen Keulen en Aken"
Translation: Reasonable far away, but not quite precise"

For the lesser gods:

Keulen = Cologne = Köln
Aken = Achen
Nijmegen - novia magnum

This information comes without any proof or doubt.
