I agree with you, which is why I pointed out it would be inherently erasing that from the species..

Not a choice that should be made lightly..

However, wouldn’t that be the same as if someone was going to be born without an arm, and you have the tech to fix it, but you don’t because it might make all those born without an arm feel isolated..

In this thought experiment, those who predated the process would face those negatives, but no other generation ever would again.

Fix Gays/Transgenders? I didn't even know they were broke. So no.

If we are going to do anything we should try enhancing the genome. Smarter, stronger, faster, visual enhancements (eagle eyes), greater longevity, stronger and more efficient immune system and as we move into space higher tolerance to radiation and G forces.

Then the whole vanity thing like feathers, scales, digitigrade knees for faster running, maybe gills to live in ocean or maybe chloroplast for secondary nutrition.

Maybe lace bones with carbon fiber, sheath muscles and organs with carbon fiber to maybe deflect damaging penetrators while helping protect from hydrostatic shock and make the skin tougher and more puncture resistant with silicon, diamond or carbon.

No. Let the individual decide when they are old enough and ready to think it through clearly.

We already fix things in the womb..

So what??

Never do another surgery on a fetus because “that’s the way they are supposed to be..”

Assuming it is biological, and a disorder. Then why wouldn’t we fix it??

The only argument I can think of is so we don’t isolate those who predated the process, but that seems like super thin logic to me.

Yeah, you're right if I was fixed wouldn't have been teased so much for being a ginger girl. Good example of what I was mentioning. Apparently it's harder to fix xenophobia even within people's own "race". I could have tried to tan but at least I don't have skin cancer from burning.😈

I agree with you about the s I do stuff lol..

But I’m pretty sure medical science considers it a disorder, and I think it is impossible to argue trans isn’t.. gay might not be.. there are some evolutionary theories that are possible...

But If it is a disorder, similar to autism. Then why wouldn’t we fix it???

Say they can’t change it that late in life..

It’s just a thought experiment, not a real life policy.

What decision do you make as a parent??

Well, knock yourself out. I gave my opinion.

Maybe it could lead to a "master race".

No.
Many great things have come from people who some think should be fixed.

Live and let live.

You're equating life or death with how a person is.

Bad equivocation.

You want to "fix" humanity? Time spent fixing "stupid" would go a long way towards that goal.

K~

For this thought experiment i need anyone who participates to pretend a couple things..

1) we find the cause of being gay and trans and it is biological. Let’s say it is as “simple” as some brain wiring that is supposed to go left, but instead goes right..

2) we have a 100% safe and 100% effective way to cure it.

So under those circumstances. What should we do??

Should we start fixing it before birth , which would inherently erase gay/trans people from humanity????

Or should we “leave it be”??

PS: feel free to separate out gay and trans since they are two vastly different things.. such as..

Yes we should fix trans, but shouldn’t fix gay.. or vise Versa...

Thoughts??

Trans yes, gay no....the reason I say trans is because that is major. I am gay and happy. I don't have to go through multiple surgeries.

I say leave it to the parents to decide.

I have children, so yes -most definitely.

I've had gay people tell me in confidence they wish they were straight. It's a very difficult thing to contend with.

Of coarse we wish we would have been born straight, but I would not take a pill to change my sexuality if one were available. I have been with my partner over 10 years and wouldn't give him up just to be straight.

Women's choice in abortion I am told.
How would this be any different?
Her body, her choice.

Then you support abolishing late term abortion as a procedure?

No.

I believe it is a natural event with a social and environmental purpose.

The only things we need to address are the thimgs that make people unhappy.

You ever see the television show "Jazz" about the teenager transsexual (m----> f) and now She is having 'romantic feelings' regarding a female friend?

Cure, Fix?
Lookup the ancestry of the entire human genome.

Some have contributed to remarkable and innovative aspects to our history as a world population.

Fix the obsession that they should be fixed.

Like Alan Turing for example
