While speaking to reporters aboard Air Force 1, Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah
said that President Trump's attorneys have signed off on appointing a
second special counsel to investigate The FBI and the DOJ in their actions
during the 2016 presidential campaign.

This is being reported by Axios, and now CNBC.

President Donald Trump's legal team backs the idea of appointing a second special counsel to investigate the FBI and Justice Department, a White House spokesman said Monday. The president's attorneys have already signed off on the notion of picking a special counsel to probe U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies' actions during the 2016 presidential campaign, Axios reported Monday, citing White House spokesman Raj Shah. The Justice Department would have to appoint the special prosecutor.

Very interesting that this comes as The Memo has been released, Shah also said that the
White House will approach further memos in the same way.

"legal review, national security review led by the White House Counsel's Office, and then within five days, the president will make a decision about declassifying it."

Well, this is good news, finally.

Still a long ways to go but a step in the right direction!

I'll add to this as it is breaking news, and not much yet from other sources.

I thought the DOJ was solely responsible for opening a Special Counsel investigation?

Did the White House have to "sign off" on Mueller to Investigate Russian Interference?

Edit: If a Special Counsel investigation is launched, the Memo war will quickly fade into oblivion. I'm sick of finger pointing without showing the evidence. Reminds me of 90% of ATS political posts.

It is Trump's lawyers that have "signed off" on it,
as it is being reported. DOJ still would have to appoint,
as the article says.

I don't think Trump or his lawyers were involved appointing
Mueller, that was at Comey's request.

However, there are now several Senators now calling for a Second Special
Counsel, Charles Grassley, and Lindsay Graham.

South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham is renewing his call for a second special counsel in the wake of the release of a GOP-drafted memo that alleges politically-motivated surveillance abuses. “I like the FBI, I like the Department of Justice. But we need a special counsel to look at potential abuses of power,” Graham said during an appearance on a local NBC broadcast in Augusta, Georgia. “Somebody needs to watch the watchers.”

Well, we have to keep an eye on how exactly justice would come about.

sigh, it is a long tedious process. I look for the beginnings everyday.

Because there so many ongoing DOJ, House, Senate investigations into alleged crimes committed under the Obama Administration, the first thing a S.C. should do is consolidate, and prioritize what should be investigated first.

As we see, firing people is considered obstruction.

Even when it was recommended by The DOJ. LOL...

Only if your a democrat.
Then not only can you release classified info, you can get away with it.

They can also plant fake news articles, and have the FBI
use that to trap people.

I'll take one special counsel over 20 memos.

And so the beginning begins.

Might be the most dangerous investigation ever.

One of the oldest tricks. ask for something then later on say you didnt ask for that or use said action to set someone up to prosecute them.
