So now the ACLU is nervous and stands "ready" to "protect" communities that some feel are under attack from Trump policies.

After the SOTU address, the ACLU makes a big deal about how many times Trump said the word "America".

80+ times

And the ACLU uses the word "American" in their own name !!!

🙍🙌

ACLU Complains: "Trump Used the Word 'America' More Than 80 Times"

Tonight, President Trump said the word ‘America’ more than 80 times in his speech. Yet, after a divisive first year, we hear and feel how exclusionary that ‘America’ is, with policies that have harmed so many vulnerable American communities. The ACLU stands ready to protect these communities, both in the courts and at the polls.

In particular, the immigration plan put forth by Trump would hold Dreamers hostage to his demands for a harmful border wall and an even larger mass deportation force. We are at this crossroads because of the President’s deeply destructive ideas fomented by his nativist allies and divisive rhetoric. We will continue to stand up for these young immigrants and ensure they continue to contribute to our country. We cannot let America’s Dreamers be deported.

Nationalism, the anthem, pledge of allegiance, the US flag, America.

All racist.

Please stop. I have to go to the comfort room and scream into a bubble machine.

That should be pretty obvious. If it America wasn't better than their country of origin, then they would still be in their country of origin.

If the ACLU doesn't like the reference to America, maybe they should remove the "american" from their name and name themselves something like the "World" Civil Liberties Union. And while they are at it, get the hell out of America. Love it or leave it!

That has got to be the most stupid thing I ever read TOYSfor
as for how many times trump used the word America if it was 80 he should have said it 160 times lol .
as for america being white OMG history aside MANY blacks and Indians and Chinese were a Big part of
of america when it was young and just as many had high standings as whites .
My god man In the middle of the Souths slavery there was a black mayor .
never mind the fact blacks for all intents were = in the north .
Sure some haters hate always were always will be haters .
Most people just want to live to see the new morning this was more true during the west expansion then any time no room to hate people because of color and got news for you during that time many settlers got killed by Indians or payed tribute to trides territory they passed through .

Life was not peaches and cream if you were white life was the cold that would kill you the Indians that would kill you the bears that would kill you .

It was a great speech. It heralded back to when our country wanted to be the best and not the same as everyone else.

What I liked is he did not refer to himself throughout his speech like a certain POTUS who has. He talked about our country. All of us. One Nation.

No one is complaining about using the word 'America'.

Does anyone here read source material or just read the titles and fire off?

It was the State of the "Union" address.

The American Civil Liberties "Union" thought the speech was going to be about them.

Out of curiosity I found the text for Obama's last State of the Union.
LINK

America, American or American's are used 87 times. I think that tells the story here.

Way to go "American Civil Liberties Union"

You mean the part where using the fact he said America more than 80 times to show the irony considering the state of the country?

Did you understand what you read?

Here's the key part of the quote for you:

Yet, after a divisive first year,

I like the ACLU's commitment to free speech, but despise their commitment to people who are living in the country illegaly.

This statement is particularly fallacious:

"In particular, the immigration plan put forth by Trump would hold Dreamers hostage to his demands for a harmful border wall and an even larger mass deportation force."
