A republican retreat to plan out 2018 strategy.

Greenbriar was a secure location hidden under the hotel to be used by Congress in the event of a nuclear war.

There's a picture being shown on Fox right now that appears to show a badly damaged train car. I hope nobody was in that car because it doesn't look good.

ETA: Disregard, it's actually the truck that the train hit.

This is the picture they're showing of the truck the train hit. Supposedly posted on Twitter by someone who was on the train.

They're reporting the driver of the truck is injured, which isn't hard to believe.

I'm surprised the driver is still alive. Based on that picture, I'd expect them to be searching around for body parts.

They've got a congressman on the phone now that was on the train, Mark Walker (R-NC) he says there were 3 people in the truck and he's pretty sure one didn't make it.

Rumor is Paul Ryan was on the train.

Fox confirmed Paul Ryan was on the train. Amtrak released a statement already saying no passengers or crew were injured. The driver of the truck appears to be the main concern right now.

That's good to hear. Hopefully the driver survives.

And hopefully it turns out to be just a random accident. Because if it wasn't, the Dems are going to be dreaming of those halcyon days when the FISA memo was their biggest problem.

I'm thinking the Amtrak statement meant no serious injuries on the train. Obviously some folks are being treated for bumps and bruises and of course stress.

200 to 250 people on the train. Republicans in House / Senate, staff aides, family.

I know the answer as to what it is used for, but I am not at liberty to discuss it.

Greenbriar is pretty well known these days. The hotel was built with a huge bunker underneath it to shelter government big shots in the event of nuclear war. Supposedly they decommissioned the bunker after the public found out about it.

Last I knew it "was". When the site got released to the public I think they ceased using it as part of their COG plans.

I could see why they would choose Greenbriar....good facilities I suppose.

Glad there are no apparent serious injuries....what about the truck driver? That truck doesn't look so good.

The deep state strikes back?

That was my first thought.

I think maybe they overestimated the damage that the truck would do. Definitely a warning from the deep state...probably about the memo. Let’s see if all of a sudden the memo isn’t released.

Sounds right for a garbage truck. I'm guessing the driver is history. If it was making its rounds, the other two guys were probably hanging off the back, and went flying when the train hit.

It is not exactly the world's best kept secret by a long shot.
