I really think the dems blew, I could be wrong but I doubt it.

Their premise is too conflicting. On one hand their saying Trump is a fool yet they think he’s reasonable enough to bend to their government shutdown threat.

You don’t shut down the government for DACA by throwing under the bus the CHIP kids.

They also may lose their moral edge over the GOP with this act.

My heart goes out to the workers who might be put on furlough like last time. The whole appeal of working a state or government job is the stability. It certainly isn't the pay.

In this case it's Democrat voters that will suffer the most for all time periods.

The government departments will have enough residual budget to last a week or two. Normally, that would give them time to pass an emergency bill to provide stop-gap funding, then they will haggle it out as in previous years.

Of course, this is Trump, so he might just let the Democrats walk into their own trap. In that case, the money runs out, government payments to preferred contractors fail, they lay off people and there's a recession in the USA. That in turn will become a global recession.

You just need to see what happened to Carillion in the UK, when the UK government didn't pay them 40 million on time. The fallout on that is just beginning with people being laid off.
