I haven’t seen this yet. Apologies if this was already posted.

Astronaut Gordon Cooper claims to have seen a UFO land while working as a project manager at Edwards Air Force Base. A UFO landed during the testing and filming of a precision landing system, only 50 yards out from where he was.

And the thing is, after he started talking about it, NASA implied that he sort of "lost it" (went crazy) after he retired.
Low-down dirty dogs! (except for Jim.)

But, norah, Jim has personal and professional knowledge as regards Gordon Cooper and I can't find much fault with Jim's conclusions on this one.

We don't want to just blindly believe anything do we? We need to know when we are barking up the wrong trees so we can look for better ones.

What were Jim O's findings on Coopers claims?

I'm guessing he says that Cooper's claims are hearsay or he is loonie.

A little bit of both pretty much covers it, Harpua. Believe it or not even Gordon has connections to the genesis of the "Aviary-an" modern ufo mythologies.

Before anyone has a conniption: I am a believer in high-strangeness "UFO" events. I am NOT a believer in everything some suspect "mythologists" would have us believe.

Rather than looking at a single interview with Cooper, and then accepting a debunk as reason to "put your feet up" and forget about the whole thing, I cant help but feel like one should be considering the entirety of UFO evidence and anecdotes, including those that are pre 20th century.

I dont unserstand why this is so hard for some to recognize as the way to go about it. Could be because that way of observation would shatter their biases towards reality, and/or fear of e.t.intelligence.

Well, looking at the entirety of the phenomenon isn't a very accurate or precise modality. One has argued that the fact the newly every culture throughout history has had some belief in a god or gods should be proof enough that there is in fact a god, but there isn't actually any concrete evidence. Like it or not, concrete and repeatable evidence is how science advances.

I'm a believer, but I see that for anything to actually shift with the so called disclosure movement, there NEEDS to be concrete, irrefutable evidence or there will always be those who can debunk or delegitimize the claims.

LOVE and FULLY Support Astronaut Gorden Cooper.

I KNOW that he speaks of his experience and God Bless him for trying to wake people the heck up about extraterrestrial existence. It just frosts and frustrates me to no limit when the MOST credible people are treated as mental health cases.

I for one like Mr. Gordon Cooper are not part of the fence-sitting, debunking crew, we have full knowledge of events that are neither delusional nor make-believe.

And yet...here we are 2018 and still, eyes roll, hair stands on end and scoffers rule the subject.

We humans as a collective would be far more advanced, civilized and dare I say happy if the subject would simply blow wide open in every aspect.

Had lunch with Donald “Deke” Slayton many years ago.

Didn’t know that he had an encounter with a UFO; he didn’t bring up the subject, not that I’d expect him to.

I find myself continuously surprised by the extent of the “coincidences” in my life.

I was just half joking. What I meant is that now that the US government *wants* a disclosure, they won't have to pay him anymore to debunk things.

----

Also regarding G. Cooper - my observation is that with people who have used their minds intensely enough throughout their lifetime (continue to use their minds), and it does not degrade so much with age like mentally weak or mentally lazy people. Also, accomplished people tend not to look for attention by saying stupid things or pulling hoaxes. I am sure his selection as an astronaut required some serious requirements in intelligence and mental abilities.

There is less reason to doubt Gordon Cooper's testimonies than there is to doubt official NASA and Air Force testimony based on a proven pattern of outright lies and deceit coming from them over many many years. And I don't say this to disparage them, but only to illustrate historical facts on the issue of alien visitation and how officialdom treats (has treated) the subject.

I'll add to that:

Colonel John Blaha - who said on NASA's STS-48 mission: "Houston, we still have the alien spacecraft under observance"
The radio transmission was intercepted by Harry Jordan, amateur radio operator.

Despite NASA first denying that Blaha ever made the statement (after the recording of the transmission was made public), they later admitted that he did indeed make the statement but they claimed that he was joking. NASA then decided to change their minds again and claimed that Blaha was using the term "alien spacecraft" to refer to the Russian Mir space station. However, Harry Jordan has confirmed that this was actually the second transmission during the incident and that it was preceded by a similar transmission, "We have the UFO under observation" confirming that the "alien spacecraft" was indeed a UFO of unknown origin.

(Not an astronaut but..)

Ken Johnston - Boeing engineer, test pilot for Grumman Aerospace, and NASA employee, working as the chief Lunar Module test pilot at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston. He said - “While Neil and Buzz were on the Lunar surface, Neil switched to the medical channel, and spoke directly with the chief medical officer saying, they’re here, they’re parked on the side of the crater, they’re watching us.” - Link

Before you post your next thread do a simple search of your thread subject. Gordon Cooper's tales have been posted here more times than you can shake a stick at. Jim Oberg may embarrass himself again and reply to your post with the accounts we're all aware of.

Jim Oberg is loonie! I always thought so but I needed trusted verification.

"Guessing" is not good enough for discussions on ATS.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen it.

As part of Dr Steven Greer's Disclosure project, Harry Jordan testified to being the HAM radio operator who heard (and recorded) a transmission of John Blaha stating "Houston, we still have the alien spacecraft under observance" during NASA's STS-48 mission.

This is "shooting-fish-in-a-barrel" time. I don't know where to start....

All you have to ask is, where is Jordan's recording?

And the evidence that ANYTHING in this passage is true is, uh, where exactly?
