Occam's Razor has all but disappeared from conventional wisdom anyways. Thus we are never allowed to believe any dissent was ideological or political in nature, but some species of racial animus. That was, until, Trump questioned Cruz's citizenship. Although the Canadian race deserves animus in my opinion.

If a person never allow himself to think that opposition to an idea is based in someone else's well-reasoned belief but always rooted in some form of animus to one or another of his personal identity tribes, it spares him the effort of having to respond. The idea may simply be dismissed out of hand.

It makes arguing politics and ideas so much easier because one always wins as no one else can possibly ever morally upright enough to challenge you.

At the same time, it makes one dumb door post and unable to articulate a good argument when someone does come forward with a response.
