I was reading "the book" last night and there is a chapter on Bannon. He makes him sound like such a complete loser, absolutely no redeeming qualities. In fact, he's jumped from one job to another his entire adult life, and failed at almost every thing he has tried. He even went to Hollywood, and tried and failed to make movies for a while.

According to the book, he was rescued from poverty by the Mercer's, and he also said horrible things about them behind their backs, as he does Trump. He seems to lack any real demonstrable character. Wolff also said (paraphrased) all Trump is to Bannon, is another rich guy.

I don't think Bannon can ever recover from this. He's proven himself to be a disloyal, petty little man who can't be trusted AT ALL.

Of course not. They don't think about being a "genius". They are too busy pondering more important issues other than what a standardized test shows their IQ to be.
Trump is just simply not a very bright man. Period. He seems to possess a certain gangster-like cleverness, and with his apparent charm he has learned to use it to his advantage.
