Well, looks like Tabby's Star dimming is caused by dust after all.

They've observed 4 dips with multiband photometry and the analysis suggests an optically thin material (less than 1um size).


Dust is most likely the reason why the star’s light appears to dim and brighten. The new data shows that different colors of light are being blocked at different intensities. Therefore, whatever is passing between us and the star is not opaque, as would be expected from a planet or alien megastructure.

It's kind of an exaggeration. Alien mega structure is a stretch but this is a possibility they have found not a definite answer.

Before the Dyson Sphere theory cropped up scientists originally hypothesised that thousands of comets were circling the star and blocking the light. Now they think it's dust... That's a heck of alot of dust to make a stars light output to dim by 40% at times...
