Why are there so many Australians here?

I'd be down for a meetup though, we would need to do it somewhere central though and aviation related. I'm in Melbourne.

Not really a fair location, but Avalon Airshow 2019?

How about the front gate at RAAF Wiliamtown?
Almost exactly half way for most of us. Yes BASSPLAYR you are invited, so is Zaph, Waynos and everyone else. I wonder if we could resurrect Willard856 and Winged Wombat? Ohhh a road trip to Woomera... Now that would be cool, Australia's Dreamland, plus Somersby lights north of Sydney etc.
Actually Avalon is a pretty good idea, I used to work there and there are some great drives and scenery along the coast like the Great Ocean road.

Somersby lights?

Yeah over the years odd lights have been observed just north of Sydney up near Gosford where my parents live. I have heard all sorts of rumours like a secret underground base as well as claims they are UFO's and links to ancient Egypt. Cant say personally but I have friends who have seen things around there so who knows. Apparently Aborigines in the area know of these lights, supposedly dating back centuries. I'm open minded.

Thanks for bringing up his quotes from the original thread!

I was going by memory and hadnt read that thread for quite some time.

Im in total agreement with SpeedFanatics OP and your subsequent posts that it operated in the SEAD/DEAD role by circumstance and not design. Mere common sense tells us that.

What was its originally designed role? Something related to nuclear? This was the B-1 era, right?

Earlier in the thread I was thinking out loud along the lines of defence/EW/SEAD for, or along side the B1, it being fast, low level, swing wing and also like the "companion" had its mission changed.

The postulated general description says that it's not a full triangle design, has an inward canted tail, and is "pointy".
Being a 70's/80's design could it be faceted? I also wondered if Chris Gibsons' sighted refuelling, along side two F1-11's over the north sea could have been the "companion" instead of the misnamed Aurora.

What, you think I WANT to meet people? I became a truck driver for a reason.

If it's a pre-117 design it's almost certainly NOT faceted and likely has shaping similar to the SR-71, the Boeing Quiet Bird, or the AQM-91, but executed with better materials.

Come on Zaph, we all know you'd love a meet up and a chat about unclassified aircraft projects, and we'd vote you as the Mod in the group in real life too.

Do you have anything else about the "companion" you can share, tire size, glass thickness perhaps?!?!

I know you can't and wouldn't, but I can try!

I wouldn't do that. It would be cruelty to my dogs.

Besides, I'm meeting new people in March, and again this summer. I'm overbooked for the year already.
