Jesus... You got to be joking. Climate and weather aren't the same thing.

He still knows more than you,
Maybe. But I doubt it. I'm a hang glider pilot, studying the weather and what causes it has been important to my enjoyment (and staying alive) for 44 years of my involvement in the sport.

They aren't my graphs, but I was discussing them with someone who, while seeming to doubt that global warming is occurring, does not seem to take issue with the data.

Your doubt on that matter does not change the fact he knows more about you as do several of us here about the lie called man made catastrophic climate change.
(Edit to take away a tough comment)
I love you being a skeptic about the Solar system claims people have made over the years but your Climate knowledge is tainted.

Can you tell me what the difference is between the two terms?

Parroting this comment doesn't change that the data is showing the models to be so bad that to continue to use them as a fact is NON scientific.

Weather is PART OF the climate and is a result of the climate. So while not exactly the same thing they are forever linked.

I remember when the official concern was global cooling.
If you're talking about the mid 70s, no. It was not "the official concern." But it was in the news. There were far more climatologists concerned about AGW than were concerned about cooling.
scholar.google.com...

It is all most as if the climate has been getting warmer since the last ice age. Oh wait. It has been.

And it will warm again after this predicted cool down ends but they will panic. Well maybe not if we are covered in ice when we start to rewarm. But we see the level of Doom Porn being bandied about the Earth's natural climate change.

I don't think that is fair to Phage. I believe he knows more than most here about the climate (if not all) and is someone I respect enough to listen to on this subject and many others. I do think that he, like everyone else (including the top scientists in the world), is operating with incomplete knowledge and has maybe come to a conclusion without the full support of the data, but then we all have.

I would rather we all take a step back and accept this is not a settled science - but I don't think that is going to happen because the subject has been so politicised and what I think are bad actors have used the issue for gains that are really not linked to 'saving the planet'.

Emissions targets are ridiculous. Either the market will reduce emissions because renewables are competitive enough,
The cap and trade model seems to have been effective in reducing sulpher dioxide emissions. Among other things, it led to improved technology while not resulting in increases in consumer costs.

Not really Phage.

This I know first hand. Before AL Gore's lie.

It was the EPA and many Environmental Scientists and Environmental Engineers who have been steadily reducing the SO2 output through permitting and fines of the manufacturing firms who fail to meet the new goals. YES, if you say there is/was work to be done and you noticed something changed. But it was happening because of Acid deposition destroying the forest, rivers and streams. Acid deposition evidence was driving the change and general consensus we couldn't allow that to continue. Some places like the Great Lakes were having some major incidents with pollution in general and SO2 was being produced in the power plants of the facilities giving us examples to build our case.

I know of a small study using 30 years of weekly sampling showing a site that was returning 4.5 pH in the 80's that slowly climbed to over 6 pH to neutral pH when the study ended due to a job well done in that neighborhood reducing H2SO4 depostion. The thing that changed was the stack heights were lowered and the bag houses that capture the dust before entering the atmosphere were inspected vigorously. This changed how far SO2 traveled and coupled with other efforts reduced the pollutant tremendously from a coal fired power plant. THAT is why SO2 output is going down and it was all set in motion from the beginning at Nixon's EPA in the 70's.

He needs a wake up call. He is TOO DAMN smart, IMO to keep this up. I shall go back and edit it to be nicer....

What does Trump know about climate change honestly? To someone in the south it might not be as obvious but here in the north I've seen enough change in the weather to know something is going on. I've been ice fishing for the past 35 years. I know when lakes freeze and I know when they thaw. 3 of the last 4 years the lakes didn't freeze. Since the year 2001 9 of 16 years the lakes didn't freeze. I never saw 2 years in a row without ice like the last 2 seasons. In the 70's and 80's it was so cold we could drive our cars on the lakes but not anymore.

That’s something i can agree with. Making Scott Pruitt head of the EPA doesn’t really fall in line with these kinds of ideals.

Well, to his credit, he did say that he wants to open up the debate and get more analysis done. That is correct in my view. Time will tell whether he lets the additional analysis and debate guide policy.

One other interesting development - Michael Savage was called to a private dinner with Trump this week and discussed the protection of animals and the earth. He made it clear to the President that he is receiving bad advice and offered to help with policy that would put realistic protections in place... he has been invited to Washington to further explore his ideas.

Previously, I have shared some data about the Magnetic Pole shift. That to me is the real issue . Water in it's gaseous phase is going to display strong magnetic attraction to the Earths magnetic field as opposed to the heavier solid water crystals attached to other water molecules in a lattice we call a snow flake the gas has different properties than the solid. Gases tend to have weak magnetic attraction called Van der Waals force in Chemistry 101 at a Uni. This attraction will be affected by the Earth's magnetic field.

North and South should flip soon
phys.org...

wiki, I rarely use, says the magnetic N Pole is moving toward Russian territory.
Therefore:
Water circulation in the gas filled clouds is moving accordingly based on this data we can see why there is climate change and will continue on as long as the Earth continues or the magnetic field stops moving.

I'd say he has access to advisors and scientists that would provide him with more knowledge than the average Joe.

If they open it up to honest debate with unaltered data then fine. The data needs to be evaluated and biases removed from the collection. Let the data go where it is, and not where the models failed to predict. They have to lie/fudge the data to get it close to the models and my favorite scientists like Albert Einstein and Dr. Richard Feynman to name just two would say "throw it out and start over!"

Michael is persuasive and seems smart, just a bit whacked sounding even if he is right on some things I have heard him say while screaming at the top of his lungs.

There are certain policies that are given. If a species is endangered, don’t hunt it. If you don’t know what to do with the waste of your company, don’t throw it in the river. I feel like a lot of the policies in this administration promote big oil and don’t seem to be sympathetic to the enviormental crisis we are experiencing. It promotes 1% greed. Our planet is dying. People call it liberal ideals and blah blah blah. We all live on the same planet. You don’t believe in climate change. Okay? What about the hundreds of species dying everyday because of effect we have on their habitat? I see so many political posts on this website defending our president. I don’t hate him. The planet we all inhabit is my biggest issue in this presidency and he has done nothing but disrespect it. Why? So big oil can line their pockets. Drain the swamp my ass.a reply to: UKTruth

I've looked into this also... there is a lot of conflicting information with some saying that the magnetic pole shift is caused by global warming and others say the opposite.

What I don't know is whether the current models being used factor in the effect...

Not yet on the Environmental pollution level at all but the media distorts the issues often you would think so (clue here).

Thanks to the EPA being founded and fining facilities that did not comply, each state in the US now have their own Environmental laws and regulations, voted in by state and local legislators, that can be and are now often tougher than the EPA rules. When the citizens disagree with the state there is hell to pay for the state and the leadership has responded.

We can agree, all things aren't perfect but the 'hold them accountable' part is not ever going to end. Especially, now that the common man understands it will be their drinking water or air affected by the facility and strict permits preserve those resources. The rules are strong enough that all the industry that could justify the poisoning of the Earth, left the US so they could continue to pollute in China and elsewhere.

Irony to the story :
**BUY AMERICAN MADE, save the planet.**

Fortunately now thanks to the activism that has morphed into the "Creature from the black lagoon", the US has very clean habitats for humanity compared to even 100 years ago (I have seen Gary IN past and present).

That can't be said for a majority of the world. We don't let people live in the filth from a neighbors property or some industrial facility without action to right the wrong. Nor do we allow people to live in filth from themselves like sewage on the ground would be.
