Nope transgender is a mental illness for the vast majority that involve themselves in it.

Now I realize that there are people that are in the fray and are born with abnormalities, however they are in the minority, sadly this has become some kind of fad and people are jumping on the bandwagon.

I agree. Children are impressionable and this FB gender stuff is an assault on their identity development. Tantamount to child sexual identity assault. This should not be taken lightly, that Facebook is trying to assault the mental sexual development of minors.

Oh, this site isn't right, and children shouldn't be on Facebook either.

I don't think you should worry if your kids run around in their parents' shoes a few times. I think they all do it, but they catch on quick to the idea of mommy and daddy and then they stop. I think it invites more trouble than it's worth to try to bring that up before they start noticing the difference on their own. You risk doing the very thing you worry about.

But then again, I came from the school of thought that most of the things in life we think of as "girl" or "boy" are simply activities and shouldn't be gender linked at all because it gets confusing and feeds this problem we have now.

As a girl, I loved sports and rough and tumble play. I went fishing with my father all the time and preferred mechanical and scientific pursuits to clothing and makeup and still do.

But I'm no more a boy or think I'm a boy trapped in a girl's body than my husband is a woman trapped in a man's body even though he likes cooking far more than I do and never cared at all for sports until I got him into them.

These days, I feel that too many people try to read the tea leaves based on the things their kids enjoy and try to read gender or sexual preferences into them as though the activities kids like are a way to determine who they are inside. And they're not and that's wrong.

A transboy doesn't need a "package." That shouldn't be a consideration until he's older than puberty age.

i understand you believe what you're saying very firmly, but as far as i can see, you've failed to prove that having other gender choices available has any effect on children, let alone constitutes forcing an agenda on them. you also gave up rather quickly on trying to prove that being transgender is a mental illness. you may consider it a given but some of us are going to need a little more than you waving your hands in the air and going 'it's just wrong!'

have you read the stories of parents who have dealt with this for years....in total frustration insisting their "child" wear the correct" clothes and play with the "correct toys" YEARS of therapy sessions and these children still insist that that they are the wrong sex.......but guiding them gently but firmly will work??? talk about denial.....it is not a whim.....if they are SO easily influenced why do they not give in when the parents spent years making them play with the corrects toys and wear the "Right clothes"..... they wouldn't need years of therapy the therapy would work in a short amount of time..but we all know that is not true........and what you say is a total insult to these parents

Do not shame him. I never said to do that. Guide him gently but firmly. It is your responsibility as a parent to help your child through the process of gender identification. It is a confusing world we find ourselves in today. Parents cannot drop this ball now.
