Ive been using binaural beats for quite some time to help with motivation, falling asleep and studying. I was so impressed with the freebies found online i decided to buy one advertised. I tried the first track got me really relaxed but then something odd happened. There appeared from clear mind a green demon-like character with red-orange hair. He had a smirk on his face as if he were satisfied. I quickly came out of my session and haven't put my ear pones back on since. It was rather startling. Afterwards, me and my wife got in a huge fight, I wrecked my truck, I've been depressed and it's dealing with problems I've had bottled up that came to the surface has caused it I suspect. Has any others using it experienced such a thing?

Edit to add the green demon like vision was sitting upon a throne

I have experimented with binaural beats in the past. Depending on the frequency, they do have an effect on brain states. The beats tend to coax the brain into different states but the brain won't accept a state that is not appropriate for current circumstances.

I used binaural beats while working. Trying to produce a deep sleep state just won't happen although the effects are clearly noticed.

No demons, though.

I haven't tried them because my conspiracy mind thinks there is an outside chance that whomever is offering these beats progtammed in some subliminal message.

Just make them yourself it's what I do all you need is a program like audacity and you can create Bineural Beats to what ever frequency floats your boat.

For motivation go old school.

I never found these beat things very effective except that time I passed out and awoke in a field but I put that down to the cheese.

Ive been using these for years nothing like that ever happened and I've got one that goes deep into epsolon waves which are deeper that delta deep sleep waves.
I don't know that it wasn't just your imagination.

They're supposed to have an effect on brainwaves but every living person goes through those brainwaves unassisted and unencumbered every single day from beta waking state to alpha relaxed to theta falling asleep and delta deep sleep. There's no danger what so ever. It's as natural as breathing.

Chances are your "experience" was connected to your mood. They say that a lot of bad trips on '___' are mood based. I've never tripped so I don't know. I've tried various beats however and they can be mood effects. If you were tied or angry you may have seen something. Chances are it's a part of you

No. They're for meditation. They relax ...not so much entertain.

Got a link to the place where you downloaded this bineural beat?

The creator of it could have slipped in something more then just the brainwave entertainment.

Eh the right wave length of sound can help with trances that can be trippy. I don't disagree it's not usual

You're not the first OP. I'd do a lot more reading on the "invention" and history of binaural beats. I'll suggest some reading when I have a minute. PM if you're interested and I'll collect and send some info.

I tested binaural audio on a friend of mine once without telling her what it was. Gave her the headphones and told her to listen. She went out like a light and then woke back up when it stopped. It was pretty interesting.

I've used binaural beats for years. In fact, it was what first lead me to ATS via Googling for more, I stumbled on a thread about them.

That said, about all they do for me is relieve migraines. It doesn't seem to matter what frequency I listen to, either, they all drop my migraines from god-awful to "Huh, this is only a minor annoyance now" after an hour or two. It's crazy effective for me, I seldom touch a OTC painkiller to deaden them anymore.

Nothing slated for "altered states", focus, mediation, etc has ever done a damn thing. I think they're very over-hyped in this regard, because I certainly had some high hopes for the claims. Now I simply appreciate how soothing they are for my migraines. That's worth way more than getting loopy off binaurals to me, in hindsight.

Edit: I also want to point out that I also occasionally listen to ham radio online, and if I think about it having a migraine, will seek out OTHR (over the horizon radar) to listen to because it does exactly the same thing as binaural beats do for me -- dramatically relieves my migraines. So what I think is going on is the cochlear nerve is being stimulated, akin to a massage, and it's just releasing the right chemicals to aid pain reduction.
