I am planning on making them. One of my future planned threads will involve a Polish British spy whom Ian Fleming modeled Vesper Lynd (Bond girl from Casino Royale) after.

Thing is though I need more people making them.

You want an example of a potential conspiracy topic read this:

Back when I was a kid. ATS didn't have all this political gobledygook.

No it was all about UFO's and bigfoot. And conspiracy theories about government mind control.

No one cared about politics.

This site is flooded with politics and regular news items these days, it's not what this site used to be all about. Trump is in every #ing headline all year long, and for years to come i feel. There was a certain kind of spice to this site, it aint there anymore. If i want to update myself on bills being passed etc or other political items there are a host of other websites for just that purpose. Also, the forums arent very efficient in displaying some sort of conclusion on a topic. Sometimes threads go on for hundreds of pages, and the best info is somewhere in the middle. I kinda relate to what you are saying. I found ATS searching for more fringe and alternative topics. As you say, I don't need ATS for political threads constantly and partisanship. There are scores of other sites for discussing these, and ones that focus on it. I also am surrounded by such discussions outside of my alternative research, in my daily life and among many friends and colleagues that work on policy or political issues.

There was a good thread not too long ago about AI-robots pushing communism onto the world. It had a nice mix of theories and doom porn. If we had more of those, I'd participate way more.

I found ATS because I read on some other site about government secrecy levels "above top secret". Things like cosmic secret or something like that. I can't remember all the names but there were a dozen or so levels more secret than top secret. I enjoyed browsing the stuff then. Now I find it frustrating. I'm perfectly ok with opposing opinions but some of the political posts are straight up stupidity, and half of the remaining posts are just dull. How many are actual conspiracy posts now? 1%? Less?

I believe one of the problems is that the newer membership are not here for debate or intelligent conversation & discussion but merely for argument insult throwing and baiting. It seems so many threads are all about attacking the poster NOT discussing the subject matter as a result, many posters no longer create threads. What's the point when all you're going to get are snide comments backbiting and the compulsory screams of "prove it" or "racists"?

Although I agree very much with your post - as I've been attacked viciously by a few extremely determined individuals in some of my recent threads - I want to share with you my hope.

In my most recent thread, the 20 trillion $ one, no one has attacked me personally yet and it's been up a whole day now. Not 1 person insulted me. Although it's only gotten a paltry 40 flags and so not very threatening to the status quo here, I did achieve something pretty solid with it.

I actually posted a non-partisan topic discussing government that I believe the left and right could agree on and unify under. However, to my dismay, I believe that many people are just simply ignoring it for various reasons.

Anyhow, I probably am jinxing myself by mentioning it and some ppl will pop up in there any minute now to insult and condemn me lol.

In some of those recent threads I got attacked personally harder than I've ever been attacked in my entire 13+ years at this website. And I've fought in some crazy arguments before, but I just have never seen the personal attacks get anywhere near this bad. They were getting to me and I have some very thick skin...

There is. Look at the top of the page and next to the ATS logo is a video icon, and next to that a flag icon that reads "top". Those are the top flagged threads.

You are missing the point. Its not about top ranked threads. Its about getting a quick overview of the thread, where the most beneficial posts get displayed, for convenience sake. Nobody really wants to shift through 30 pages of posts for golden nuggets.

Its not just up to the posters the site is heavily manipulated to push certain stories to the front page. MODS can bump threads in ways members cannot.

The OP is correct the contents is not what is use to be. There has been a concerted effort to push ats towards US news.
