Alright, I'm not new to this, I'm not a dyed in the wool believer, but I'm not a skeptic either. Something is most certainly going on that we can't explain, and what little the Governments know, they refuse to talk about, until this week anyway.

Anyway, a little about my background. The first time I saw something I can't explain was in the late 80's at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, which happened all the time and nobody really said anything about it because there were bigger things to worry about there, and then again in the 1990's near the Kennedy Space Center just prior to a launch that got scrubbed for a reason they'd usually let them fly under.

I'm from a Military family, and I served in the Army as a Signals Intelligence collector myself, ELINT to be specific (which is precisely as far as I'll go in that regard). I also did work at Tonopah Test Range Airport (what some people call Area 52) on the Army task force responsible for developing how the Military uses unmanned systems in a tactical setting which we developed to be able to keep an eye on the MSRs in Iraq to eliminate people emplacing IEDs.

I'm also punk. Which may seem odd to you considering the rebelliousness inherent in the philosophy and artwork in the movement, but whatever. I'm really not a fan of Blink-182, they're a fisher price junior rock band masquerading as punk. I used to call them Punk Rock training wheels. Good for kids discovering stuff like Bad Religion or Dead Kennedys and going down the LA or SF/Oakland rabbit holes but not much else. And before anyone tries to punk rock "coin check" me over my username, the Didjits did it originally on "Hornet Pinata" about a year before Smash came out so draw your own

But, as much as I hate to say it, I think Tom DeLong might be on to something when it comes to the Government being on the cusp of releasing very important information because this media blitz over the past week or so is really, really odd. I don't recall them ever being this open about the subject besides saying they'd closed the book on Roswell, and Glomaring anything else like Aztec, Kecksburg or possible continuations to Blue Book. I'm also really jaded about this "official disclosure" kind of stuff, I remember Greer's disclosure project and how much hype there was around it for basically nothing. I remember the supposedly big British MOD information drop which IIRC didn't have much of substance, as well as the one that the French did which proved to be so popular that it overwhelmed their file servers but still didn't have substance.

The NY Slimes article and the FLIR video of the F/A-18E tracking something is odd, as is them saying they closed the project in 2012 (ten bucks says they just pulled the same crap they did with the Intelligence Support Activity [Task Force Orange nowadays] as well as Delta [Army Compartmented Element, Combat Applications Group, Task Force Green] and just changed the Special Access Program's name, they can say its been inactivated but the same personnel are doing the same job in the same place). I haven't had time to read the documents but I'd be willing to bet there are Special Access Program names or USSIDs that are in there that can be FOIAed and they left them in on purpose so someone will.

They have never been this open about anything regarding their research or threat assessments in regard to UFOs in the past. The question is why? Why the sudden major and seemingly complete change of heart?

I'm interested in what everyone else thinks about this, why now, and why through DeLong of all people?

That is a strikingly accurate depiction

To give you an idea of how this story is playing out, check this slashdot link: tech.slashdot.org... Slashdot, if you don't know, is frequented by computer industry types taking about the latest version of Linux, and just like ATS, there is considerable topic drift. This thread reflects their basic attitude about UFOs. I would submit that this is typical of people not really interested in the topic. A read through this should convince you this latest 'drip' is having little impact.

FWIW I did a search in some of my physics, computer, and science related forums and have found no hits with anything related to this HUUUUUGE announcement.

I know its anecdotal evidence, but none of my family or friends who are primarily not interested in conspiracy or UFO stuff have mention a word about this HUUUUUUUGE announcement. Not even the ones that have a little bit of interest on the subject have mentioned it.

Heck they can barely get a conspiracy site such as ATS excited about this HUUUUGE announcement . So how much of impact is it really having on the real world?

It seems to me that he wants to keep this information publicly owned, by keeping this project open sourced keeps this technology in the public's hands. He claims that the CIA contacted him after he wrote a book called secret machines

BFD. Really. Wouldn't you expect the Pentagon to conduct threat assessments of anything they could not understand? Isn't that kind of their job?

Well, if you remember, we have had quite a few years of them claiming they did no such thing. That it all ended with Project Bluebook. That these phenomenon was no threat to national security. That it was mostly fantasy.

And here they have released one of their own high tech jets filming it and the pilots being every bit as baffled as the average Joe in the street.

So I would say this is a big deal, regardless of the brevity of the clip and the poor quality of the gun camera footage.

Gun camera footage being another thing a lot of people have been calling for them to release, because it is pretty much certain that they have a lot of it squirreled away. Together with reports, radar tracks and even satellite data.

Oh, yeah. Somebody has a nice big database with all this stuff on it.

Thing is, it's easy to poke holes in a couple of videos. It's a lot less easy to poke holes in 150 videos. It will be interesting to see what gets released next -- if anything. If nothing, then obviously it won't be very interesting.

Which was true at the time. It was Harry Reid who initiated this last go around, so the Pentagon accommodated him, like they would any politician with some clout. The spent a paltry $22 million, then stopped. The real point is: Why WOULDN'T they study this? Would they not be in dereliction of their duty if they did not? I don;t find tat the least bit amazing.

And managed to produce a blurry, indistinct blob on the film. And this is high tech? So what do you DO with this sort of evidence? And where is this Big Deal?

Hello? Anybody?

All I hear is crickets.

If you combine Carol Rosin's testimony with all the military brass and supposed 'several people' including an Air Force officer in special investigations/counter-intelligence according to Greer, maybe we have something.

One thing you can probably verify with Dr. Carol Rosin is that she was indeed corporate manager at Fairchild Industries and worked with W.V.B..

My assessment is that people of that stature do not usually tell stupid lies and participate in hoaxes.

Also like I said, you have to combine it with testimony from others and then maybe you can draw a conclusion.

This is not a simple goverment psy op.

Mk Ultra and other psy programs and our understanding of the mind are very much at their infancy.

Most genuine and honest psychiatriasts, when pressed for an answer or if they feel they can be honest, admit that they and most people dont know a lot about anything...

To this point, some of the things going on in our society, down to individual experiences, are beyond or on the fringe of the most astute human comprehension.

From all information accrued, my conclusion is that there is a real presence and existence of other worlders, with technology and knowledge about the cosmos, our psychology, and much more, that is much more advanced and comprehensive.

I have a bit of a theory, being that with the impending crude oil crisis coming. Depending on who you believe, in 15/25 yrs time. If the USA does have access to alternative energy sources, then they may feel its time to bring it out into the open into the white world.
Rather than sit on it too long at the chance another nation may beat em to it. Hence the disclose gates opening and the use of delonges to the stars company as a front to release the tech and disclosure.

Just a theory.

I too, am curious as to the current release of info from a semi-official capacity. The F/A-18 video is tantamount to an official disclosure (on this incident only) that 'something other' is in our skies. It is healthy to be an open-minded sceptic, but not healthy to be utterly suspicious and close-minded and deliberately distrusting of any disclosures, nor matter how small or isolated.

In a sense, it cannot be helped. Our governments have been continually and deliberately plying downright lies and obfuscation tactics to the subject, so trust towards any announcement can only be applied with caution. Some will think that any official disclosures of incidents (to be understood on their own merit) are nothing more than 'perception management' tactics (psyops). However, actions speak louder than words, so rather than just go with what is being said, also go with what is being shown and use your own faculty of discernment to give it a judgement.

It could be that they are trying to hide 'black' technology within UFO conspiracy avenues, but if we remain steadfast in this perception, we may actually dismiss something that is true. Disclosure would bring the government great relief, and also, open funding avenues for investigation, and bring in a larger aid resource from around the world. It could also introduce a 'new' subtle enemy through which all countries may have to come together and cooperate with each other to combat, or to defend against. You cannot successfully defend yourselves if you are ignorant of a potential threat, America cannot defend the world alone.

I do think that withholding disclosure was right to some degree. Public reaction could not be fully gauged as to how severe it would be. Belief systems would be challenged, and we are already experienced in how people react to one another when belief systems are challenged or rejected, especially religious beliefs. I for one would accept disclosure with no problem, and would assimilate it into my life experience with not a little vindication as to my own UFO sighting back in the 70's. Disclosure would certainly open up a whole new realm of interest and study.

I think it is extremely important that we learn that we are definitely 'not alone' in the universe. It just might help us to overcome our petty squabbles and redirect our focus towards greater and better cooperation with each other as we turn our faces towards the stars.

Hey, I think your actually on to something. Project Tobacco, which is supposedly 2025. In Tom Delonghe’s recent interview with Joe Rogan, he alludes to something in 7 years.
It is really fishy that more things are coming out, from studying alien life in the universe, to studying an asteroid to the latest on UFO’s.
I read Tom’s book, and in the beginning, he says that he has done this to make money, so for me, it lost a lot of credibility. The story was interesting but for anyone that is deep in this topic, there was nothing new, and as a matter of fact, unless he isn’t allowed to say anything, he is missing a ton of our equipment.
Anyway, like you say, his story could be plausible. He does give a reason why they are talking to him but could also be a decoy.
It does seem rather coincidental though. Like you, nothing is as it seems in government. They don’t leak things like this. Nothing is without being deliberate.
They are probably tracking the reactions to this release, then release more if we as a population can handle it.
Interesting to see what’s next.

There has been a UFO flap of sorts in the past couple of weeks, maybe couple of months - either way, before and leading up to this news drip, a lot of experiencers seem to have experienced something very recently. IMO, naturally this flusters the officials, presumably because a bunch of these things start popping up on radars all over the place around the same time and they realize their "containment" of the situation is jack-#, when you can just go outside and look up and see them for yourself.

But at the same time, you know when they tell you they "shut down a UFO department they never admitted existed until they are ready to say it's shutdown", you know too well they've simply taken it to the next level and haven't shut a #ing thing down at all. But who cares - when we have a UFO flap it's out of their control, secret research departments or not.

Look to the skies, not the news, for answers

Meanwhile here in Australia, the original article from the New York Times has been rehashed a number of times in the online mainstream news feeds, to the point that it is now being repeated in small regional news websites of the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) no less.

Contrast this to the recent past when anything concerning UFOs or the prospect of extra terrestrial activity that was leaked and appeared to be gaining traction was run as a news/interest feature but was instantly de-bunked or ridiculed by the time you read more than half way through. The last paragraph was always some disparaging summary giving it a final kick to the head as it lay on the ground.

So yes, this is a remarkable change of activity.
