Was he actually convicted on any of the charges?

Yup. He was his own judge, jury, and executioner.

He alone had all the facts.

So, only he could make the righteous judgment.

He was drunk when he did the deed, and probably regretted it immediately afterwords.

Now, the sober guy couldn't accept that the drunk guy was also him.

The problem he had was trying to be perfect.

In the eyes of his community, he was a good soul.

He probably was a good person, when sober.

But, he had another side, hidden, and obscure. A side that a few other people knew.

Like most of us, he was part good and part bad.

But, now, everybody would forget his good side, and focus on his bad deeds.

I blame Jesus for this. Since, Jesus said "Be Ye Perfect". [Matthew 5:48]

He realized he wasn't getting into heaven anymore.

As soon as he understood he wasn't perfect, but was faking it, he decided to quit trying.

There's no difference between Nazi's and SJW's besides which Identity they Supremacize....

Except for maybe the xenophobia/racism VS. diversity and inclusion.

SJW's are xenophobic and exclusive to anyone that doesn't think like them (and looks like a Nazi).

Nazi's are xenophobic and exclusive to anyone that doesn't look like them (and thinks like an SJW).

There seems to be a lot of rape the rapist and murder the murderer advocates on ATS.

Raped someone? Hope they get raped in prison! Murder someone? Hope they get murdered in prison! It's embarrassing.

When the left start talking like the right (blaming religion and party immediately after the news of a suicide)

Kinda sounds like you just said something you would advocate against...

It sucks that it sounds like that to you.

Maybe it's something we all need to work on, then.

It’s a shame nothing but an allegation can ruin a life. No proof. No evidence. Just an allegation and just by the first page of comments... enough said.

All power to the accusers.
Innocent until proven guilty is under attack.
The spirit of Robespierre is in the air. The old lady knitting at the guillotine are now internet trolls.

It is reprehensible for anyone here or anywhere to be glad about ANYONE ever committing suicide. Seeing that here on ATS only exposes the gigantic voids of darkness within the hearts of those doing so. You could be inviting judgement upon your own self.

I agree, but we can also agree there are "defective?" souls that don't belong in civilized society. While I cannot revel in their demise, I shed no tears either.

So he went to his grave and maybe his God?? With a lie, pathetic.
Should have just begged for, forgiveness , his supporters would have still stucked by him and nothing would have changed.

lol.... ya sure...
you know, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that there are more rape victims waiting around for the rape kit to be processed than there are rapists sitting in jail cells at the moment???

It is unfortunate that the individual concerned, did not find himself possessed of the strength to stand against the slings and arrows of either outrageous bad fortune, or the consequences of his failings, whichever turns out to be accurate. From personal experience, I can say it is no fun to have ones name dirtied in the press on false pretenses. It hurts, deeply. But this man had all the tools a human being should need in order to weather the storm he was under. He had a loving family, had been heaped by fate with privilege and honours (his position as a church leader, his position as a representative, the financial benefits which come from that life of prestige). He was not at rock bottom, he had cards remaining in his deck. If he was an innocent man then, why would he remove himself, rather than take the accusations head on, and fight them?

Self elimination will not bring him closer to God, and it does nothing to suggest his innocence, and nor, for that matter, does the suicide "note" left on the internet. Innocent people do not seek an escape from hardships like these. They seek instead vindication.

His actions, those of escape beyond the ability of criticism to reach his ears, speak of something other than innocence, if you ask me.

I hope they continue the investigation. If the accuser turned out to be false can some sort of charges be filed from the suicide?

Beware of false prophets. How many religions are led by wolves in sheep clothing? Is there any wonder why more people then ever are rejecting organized religion?

Excellent post, said much better than I would have.

Some absolutely despicable responses to this.

We have some really bad people posting here.

Do you guys think laughing with glee at someones downfall and suicide is an appropriate reaction.

Nutjobs...

Its probable that any charges arising from such a thing, would be of the civil nature, rather than the criminal, unless there was some way to classify the instigating factor (that is, the stimulus that lead to the victims suicide), as harassment, which would be a criminal matter of course, and might result in some level of manslaughter charge, like involuntary manslaughter for example.

Such charges have been bought against defendants in cases where their bullying of vulnerable staff has lead to suicide. However, how that would shake out in this specific instance is questionable, since calling any kind of journalism harassment sets a dangerous precedent.

It's a shame to die in a court of opinion than try to prove his case in a court of law. This happens too often with men, piss the wrong person off and now you're a pedophile, rapist, and molester. A guy in the next town over got divorced from his wife. After it was finalized the ex-wife clamed he had molested thier son. The guy got arrested lost his job and lost his mind. A few weeks after he had been released from jail and awaiting his trial he shot himself and died in a extended stay hotel. During the funeral not many showed to pay respect due to the fact he was suspected of molesting his 2yr old son. A week went buy and the ex-wife had a mental breakdown and was screaming "I killed him!". When she finally came around a few days later the investigator asked why she said that? Then she confessed she made it up, even though she was arrested for filing a false claim her ex-husband was still dead buy vengeance of a scorned lover.

Don't know what proof was given, as haven't read the whole thread. But there are innocents who've committed suicide due to the pressure from false accusations.

He did not die in the court of public opinion though.

He died by his own hand, while there were plenty of other, preferable options on the table, like taking all the distributors of the information to court, or simply weathering the accusations, as if to say "These are trifling concerns, non-events, reported by entities which I refuse to dignify the produce of, by way of a response".

Maybe, we don't know how his family and close friends reacted, though.

In many muslim communities you leave the faith, and you're basically dead to family and friends, your entire social circle cuts you off. In some areas some communities behave likewise towards those with false accusations.
