As part of Walmart's 'quest' to help people live better for less money, they short-staff, skimp on training to get warm bodies out there on the floor, have done away with people who focus on each department so that they can actually answer questions and help customers, in favor of employees that just work store-wide and know little about any of the departments period. We're constantly stuck in the photo lab and we have no idea how to do much of anything there. There's no training and no manuals.

Short-staffed employees are expected to put out the same amount of work as a larger staff would and are treated very poorly if they can't live up to the expected level. You're given tasks to do, but are also responsible for keeping up with a myriad of other things that come up and anything else a manager decides to toss at you at the same time. If you can't get your original task done because of everything else on your plate, it's a failure on your part. Not the managers who never communicate with each other and give conflicting jobs. It's your fault. You're lazy, slow and unproductive.

Morale where I work is incredibly low to the point where employees that have worked there 13+ years are fed up and tired of the way things are going. We're expected to push that awful WM Mastercard hardcore to the point where our small community is sick of hearing about it. This even includes the self-checkout. You can't even use the kiosks without someone coming up trying to bully you into signing up for it. Think of telemarketers and their refusal to take no for an answer. Two have been fired for not pushing the card hard enough lately. It's disgusting.

You can't call in sick. You have to use the online wellness site and they can email you back telling you that your request for sicktime is denied and they expect you to show up.

I used to think my job working in the medical field was high stress. Then I started working at WM. Oi...

Just my humble opinion, the problem as I see it isnt about size of the company, bigger is better. The problem I see with the way things have changed is in the direction of the end goal of a company or the distribution of its built worth. When I was young whoever you worked for valued your participation no matter how trivial. Nowadays we have share holders and numerous others who do nothing in a company but hold power to decide those who make the company are worth less or are completely worthless.

Shareholders or anyone that does not participate in the betterment of the company as a whole(that means every employee)and leeches not from the top down but completely outside the the company is the real problem for us all and the greed today is so rampant they will devalue every last one of us.

Listening to the excuses on here to enable more corporate greed makes me sick.

Well you do need stuff to do stuff. If it was a communist state, then you'd have to wait in line for stuff. A socialist state, you'd kinda get the half atmosphere of a communist state. So, capitalism may be right. But what about this marilyn manson video about fascism?
