Would you replace a legacy C8, with the new Advanced VX8

Optically speaking, not counting the obvious advantages in the electronics.
Does anyone have experience with both? I was also considering just buying the mount, and putting my legacy (with advanced coatings) on it.
Thanks

What are you planning to do with it? If you're just using it visually, I doubt you'd find the optical difference worth the price of a new OTA. If you're planning on doing deep space astrophotography, then the advanced optics would potentially be worth the price if your sensor is larger than one of those 1/3" 640x480 CCDs.

Thanks for the comeback. I use a NexStar 5MP sensor. It is ok... but going up from that is very expensive.
Supposedly, the older C-8 SC's used Quartz blanks for the rear mirrors, and newer used a curved glass mirror. Both are ground in a similar way. Perhaps you are correct that I would probably not see a significant increase of optical quality unless I concentrated on the imaging sensor.

These are my legacy beauties!
Low tech, but good optics.
