Feminist Satire Site Shuts Down Because Feminists Believe The Satire Is Reality

To me this is a microcosm of everything on the left. A sick joke pushed so far that they've come to believe it is reality.

To the point:

The website "Medusa Magazine" has been attempting to satirize radical feminism. They're now shuttering the site because:

We are shutting down our rather hilarious project because we can no longer compete with our competition. We have come to realize that our competition is not other satirical websites, but rather the people we are trying to satirize.

They came to this realization after they posted an article about how people should believe the sexual accusers against right wingers but not those against leftists. Multiple news outlets started using their rationale to actually argue for this.

I find this to be hilarious and sad on so many levels.

Confirmation bias can be a real bitch, especially when fueled by political religion and identity politics.

you're making it sound as if other news outlets thought this site was real and quoted it, which doesn't seem to be the case in this particular situation.

in fact, i think you're just taking the word of the satirical website that their fake article and the other serious articles are that similar.

and just as a third point, i have seen numerous instances of conservatives citing obvious fake news from fake news sites... but somehow you only find this to be an amazing indictment of the left? this looks more like something a right-winger is puffing up as a defense of how often right-wingers fall for obvious BS.

If you haven’t read our “Believe liberal victims or rape more than conservative victims of rape” article yet, I implore you to go read it now and then compare it to the argument these rape activists are now pushing. Its like they read our hoax article, agreed with it and then decided to incorporate it into their movement. And that is why we are shutting down this website. Because there is no point in operating a caricature website of Feminism anymore when real life Feminists are now more insane than any caricature we could ever dream up. If you enjoyed our content and are sad to see us go, then just go follow any legitimate Feminist blog or any of the many obnoxious Feminists on Twitter. Their content is the same as ours.

So this was a satirical website satirizing radical feminists. Got it. Now they are shutting it down because some radical feminists took it seriously. Right? That is their reason?
Shutting it down because some of these leftists believed it. But why didn't they shut it down when a number of right wing publications fell for the prank.

It would feel good, momentarily, to see Franken resign and the Democratic governor of Minnesota, Mark Dayton, appoint a senator who has not (as far as we know) harmed women. If I believed for one second that Franken is the only Democrat in the Senate who has done something like this, with or without photographic evidence, I would see that as the best and most appropriate option. But in the world we actually live in, I’m betting that there will be more. And more after that. And they won’t all come from states with Democratic governors and a deep bench of progressive replacements. Some will, if ousted, have their successors chosen by Republicans.

In other words, if we set this precedent in the interest of demonstrating our party’s solidarity with harassed and abused women, we’re only going to drain the swamp of people who, however flawed, still regularly vote to protect women’s rights and freedoms. I think they fairly obviously expected a certain portion of "the right" to believe that their satire was real. I don't think they were prepared for having their satire become the latest bar of achievement in the social justice olympics and to become positions people would actually adopt and try to defend.

The only accurate descriptor of this woman is the word partisan.
