App

Makes me clench my teeth. I make a point of saying "APPLICATION" louder whenever it is brought up in conversation. The people who know me find it amusing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I still call them "applications" and "programs." I get it, the words are longer, but I'm not too lazy to say them.

I prefer "App" in conversation because of the multiple meanings of "application". If I tell someone I build apps, they don't ask me... "you mean like job apps?"

"awesome"

BS phony compliment because you have nothing else to say.....

Nah, you couldn't ban "awesome", or "true" for that matter.

Its pretty much all I've got when I'm trying to be polite and people I don't really want to be talking to are blabbering nonsense in my ear.

As in, blah blah blah, "awesome dude", blah blah blah, "yeah true"!

Have people gotten that... ehm... thick?
I usually go for "computer/phone programs." If someone doesn't understand the contextual meaning of the word "application," that's a whole nother problem on their level.

I get ya though. Good points.

chillax,

I see your 'chillax,' and raise you anything prefaced with 'bro.'

broheim, bromeister, et al.

Chillax, Bromo origato, mr brobato.

My old coworker hated the word "synergy" because of our manager's overuse of it.

Why would we ban words? We should use critical thinking.

With children the first things they usually ask for are food and comfort.

Are you advocating a "borg collective"? No thanks

My friend, if you feel that you need to ask me that question, then you definetly don't get out enough.

Next round is on me.

Use "Prohibit". English is a good language if you spend some time learning it.
