Rep. John Conyers, newly facing sexual misconduct charges from former aides, was praised by fellow Rep. Maxine Waters just last month as a champion of women.

During an address to organizers of the national Women’s March in which she lashed out at “rape culture” and President Trump, she singled out the Michigan lawmaker for special attention.


“You know, there is a member of Congress who has been supportive of women for many, many, many years,” said said in a keynote address to the Women's Convention Sojourner Truth Luncheon in Detroit.

“He is quiet, he is confident, he is powerful, but he has impeccable integrity on all of our issues. Give John Conyers a big round of applause.” C-SPAN captured her comments and those of others who spoke at the event.

Maxine is not qualified to even utter the word "integrity", let alone say that John Conyers has it.

The fact that Maxine spoken up so quickly to defend Conyers, tells me that she's in with him on some illegalities. Probably not even related to sex. Sex-related Investigations have a way of uncovering other crimes.

Of course she thinks he has impeccable integrity...She has no idea what that word even means. She just likes to use what she considers "big words".

Party lines aside if a person is guilty of these crimes, which is what the shush money implies, then they should be barred from public service....Period!

Yea kind of a hard thing to do is use the word sex and Maxine in the same sentence eh . But if it had a payout of 27,000 $ it would be a reasonable utterance ...no wait I meant double or tipple that amount . I feel dirty now .

Maxine Waters regularly makes the list of the most corrupt members of congress. It's been obvious for many years that she has no integrity worth speaking of.

Most people have no interest at all so I think you overestimate the flock. For some, Conyers is very low hanging fruit so I see what you mean by distraction.

She misspoke saying supportive. She meant to say supports women, via taxpayer funds after he's done creeping on them.

Maxine gets words confused sometimes. Well, all the time.

An endorsement from Maxine Waters pretty much means we know he's guilty now.
