I mean, prove me wrong and attempt to shed that allegation. It's my word against yours and since I spoke up, I get the surprise attack.

At some point we as a society are going to have to realize how dangerous this is. On one hand the allegations are generally taken pretty seriously, even if they come up right before elections or movies. *hint hint*

What is even more destructive is the harm this does in the future to actual assault victims. Should a penalty be proven to strict, there goes the reasoning to bring it up, keep it lax and nothing will change.

What can be done?

I've been assaulted more times then I can count and raped by an ex-boyfriend.

I can't prove any of it.

Only when multiple women speak up does it even get considered.

Unless your Trump. Then it just gets brushed aside.

I told you what would happen to ya if you spoke about it!!!!

But yea, I think if a person brings an accusation against another for this type of crime or any for that matter? If proven they lied? They should get the same sentence as the person they falsely accused! PERIOD!

Good to see you Annee.

Did you ever attempt to bring charges?

Lets say a crime happened and there is not ample evidence for a conviction, should the victim still be punished?

I ask because that's likely the case with each passing moment after the crime.

That's the whole problem.

It's a 'He said she said' (or the reverse).

And we're taught NEVER to discount an assault until 'proven' - guilty or innocent.

But it's still a 'she said he said' (or the reverse).

What I know for fact?

Many years ago NO ONE spoke of these 'types' of assaults.

Now? It's everyday news.

But it still goes back too... One who accuses and one who stands accused.

Though I would add? These type of 'assaults'?

They're life long events for those who are the victim(s).

And it isn't a pretty life.

So now what?

I think that if anything is to be gained from the recent masses of sexual incidents that victims should come forward immediately.

Absolutely! But there is the whole “proof” thing. It’s hard enough to prove it happened, proving it is a lie is even harder.

I just want to come forward and say I deeply regret my conduct in the described situation even if I don't remember the accusation happening and want to take the opportunity to say that the rumors about my sexual orientation are true and I do identify as a penguin.

I will seek treatment now.

I was sexually assaulted at age 7 by my babysitter and loved every minute of it... I think. It was so long ago!

In the 1980's/1990's people used to come on Oprah and blame every dysfunction in their lives on how they were sexually assaulted as a child.

Now, people use it as a weapon to hurt others..whether they were assaulted, or not assaulted.

The smartest thing each person can do, is take care of ourselves and our families. At the end of your life, that is what will matter the most to you.

Why are you taking a truly sensitive subject for actual victims and throwing it in the mud?

That's pretty sick man.

If it can be proven they most likely made it up? Yea.

But then again, our Justice system is so far gone with prosecutors who want convictions under their belts? Yea, so much for justice in such a corrupt system aye?

Doesn't seem to be any easy answers for those of us who just want honesty and integrity does it?

What is the most basic way to deflect from the institutionalized abuse of Pedowood?

The very narrative you speak.

Yes we have to be wary of the lies that some will spread to take advantage of, but what is really concerning is just how easy it would be to use the "witch hunt" to divert attention away from the scumbags that are guilty.

My worry is that the worst of the worst will be ignored while we focus upon whomever they shine the light upon.

In the over all scheme of things any assault is criminal and should be treated as such, in this vein perhaps we are witnessing just how bad it actually is.

I think every claim of sexual assault should be taken seriously . Do not attack the victim until he/she is proven to be lying.

I find conservatives are less likely to believe when it is a conservative accused but have no issue with taking the victims word when it is against a Liberal.

Whereas Liberals give the victims a chance and take all their accusation seriously no matter who your are.

Because I did not include any sources and given the political climate here on ATS, it seems to me to be the most appropriate.

Did you read the title, I was sexually assaulted. I am an actual victim.

Not discounting what you said, but in the same breath let's look at the war against men from the alt left??? Keep in mind, EVERYTHING IS POLTICAL now a days?

What do we do? Beg the same corrupt system that created this mess to save us??? Or just burn it down??

I was raped at age 15 by a 37 year old stranger. I was fortunate enough to have survived and had the support to report it immediately. I submitted to a rape test, polygraph, and answered questions about my sexual activity with my 18 year old boyfriend. I knew it was part of the investigation...they wanted to know if I was lying or felt I had a reason to lie.

I agreed to all of it...again I had the support system. In the end, the man who raped me confessed and plea bargained...but he still got two life sentences.

I'm not suggesting all accusers be forced to agree to all of this, but if someone makes an accusation against a political candidate, in the midst of an election -- 30 years after the incident and so close to an election, that the candidate cannot be replaced on the ballot -- then I reserve the right to consider that circumstantial evidence in the absence of any other evidence.

I commend you for your strength and it's good to see justice prevail.

If I may, what was the time frame between incident and police report?
