More and more women want to take their own placenta with them after childbirth in order to eat it for "health reasons." This phenomenon is growing, especially in the USA, but also in Europe, although physicians are increasingly expressing concerns about it. One example is the gynaecologist Alex Farr from the University Clinic for Gynaecology at the MedUni Vienna, who has now published a recent paper in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
"Medically speaking, the placenta is a waste product. Most mammals eat the placenta after birth, but we can only guess why they do so. After the placenta is genetically part of the newborn, eating the placenta borders on cannibalism.
The placenta is not suitable as a 'superfood'

Superfood or otherwise no.
I like odd foods-beef tongue, liver, other various organ meat. But I would not even try placenta, never. There isn't enough garlic butter to make it OK.

I just ate some Jello. I now feel like I have to Puke after reading this.
I sure hope they cook it.

Actually the dehydrate it, grind it into powder and add it to jello.
