Que the creation of the Quark bomb and Humanities entrance into yet another pointless arms race i imagine.

But think on the potential for energy production and/or as means of space propulsion?

If some form of antimatter engine or controlled Orionesque type propulsion can theoretically take us to a significant percentage of lightspeed how fast/efficient would a Quark implosion engine get us to the next star?

Is it even theoretically possible to harness this type of destructive force which seems' to be an order of magnitude far greater than normal fusion?

Certainly, interesting times in which we live.

This is very sensationalist and is basically saying

If you convert matter and anti-matter into energy via annihilation... you get more energy than fusion... which is obvious

The other part is a statement about, if you create a charmed baryon, the process of it decaying releases more energy than fusion... which again is obvious

The issue and statement in regard to its non practicality is that you have to put loads of energy into making the baryons, you do not get more energy out than is required to make them, so its a good 'on paper' exercise, but no, isn't really that useful. Weaponization? Seriously, just making a weaponized particle beam is something that hasn't been done yet... weaponizing this? no, just no.

meh nothing new here really. Still the largest energy source is matter-antimatter annihilation.
