As I suspected. No major toy deal.

Mcfarlane toys makes some TV show toys like walking dead figures. I see they will have a kirk and Picard figure in the line. Too bad thats not from Discovery.

Thats what this all deserves. Sell more old Trek and get it while you can. Even that is dead to me now.

They are selling old trek.

Even the packaging has TNG styled LCARS text.

Old phasers, old characters, and so on.

They say they are real trek fans. I believe them. They seem to lead with clasic Trek and not STD nonsense.

They probably dont like it much either. They made fun of the Klingons new look FFS and said it was going to be hard to reproduce. Its way over the top.

They probably know their best sales will come from old Trek.

I would guess that the reason is that Kirk and Picard are sure fire sellers as they have an established fan base for collectors so it makes perfect sense to start with them.

The STD stuff is lined up I imagine to come out with the launch of season 2 when there is a decent fan base and build up for the release but also from the older seasons figures.

Every other show had immediate sales of its stuff. Fans were plugged in.

Now, not so much.

We should compare Orville merch sales to Star Trek in years to come.

It tells me you will sell more kirk figures than you will STD because TOS is old and has a huge proven sales platform whereas discovery is a few episodes into the first season.

I get that you dont like it but making all these assumptions and trying to force an isse will not really change much.

Discovery will never be liked as much as TOS but then neither was voyager or enterprise but they were still enjoyable well made shows.

Neither I or the creators need your blessing for the show?

I will continue to watch it for what it is unless I decide it is not to my liking and if that happens I will watch something else instead.

First you have to lose the delusion that The Original Series was such a profound thing.

Take Captain Kirks acting for instance - not profound, but entertaining. Plenty of silly plots and ideas in TOS too.

There were also profound things but not necessarily original ideas and have been presented before those shows.

I saw the first few episodes of Discovery. They definitely need some better story lines, some ground-breaking ones and more solid plots/stories. But I have to say I really enjoyed the acting and scenes. I thought the Klingons were great. They costumes were awesome and they had a great language persona.

I thought the ship looked great (incl. Klingon ships) as well as effects.

Much better than any of the other sequels ( next Generation, Deep Space 9, etc.)

Now they just have to have fun w it like TOS, and throw in some profound ideas by the greatest science fiction writers.

Star Trek fans dont like Trek now. Other people do. Thats fine.

But I am a fan for almost 2 decades and did my part like everyone else who got crap for and kept with Star Trek.

I spoke my mind. There are plenty who feel as I do. Time will tell if we remember this Trek and give it our suppport.

I dont really like TOS. I do but prefer TNG or DSN.

That said, no one asked if the show should stay true to the Trek ethos.

If you dont agree thats fine.

There is NOTHING wrong with me and I am not a one off.

The fans hate it. Everyone is just tolerating it. Orville looks like an updated 90s show but we freaking love it because it is true to Trek.

So what ever.

Have you honestly not figured out that no one besides you actually cares about your opinion on the show?

You sound sad they did not give you a call and make sure you were happy before they began production?

If you dont like it then dont watch it, like the orville? watch that instead.

I kinda like both of them but mainly because they are better than nothing.
