I just discovered a youtube cooking channel that not only has me salivating and licking my computer monitor, but the guy cooks from scratch over an open fire in the great outdoors with simple basic cooking tools and techniques. All quiet and serene with nothing but the sounds of nature and the sizzling of food over an open fire.

This is my idea of "fine dining" !

So calming and peaceful... I had to make myself a cup of tea, wrap up in a soft fluffy blankie, put my feet up and enjoy the serenity of the surroundings while he creates food art before my very eyes.

Here's a taste of what all of his videos are like:

I swear, this guy's videos are better than sex.

(okay maybe not... but damn it comes mighty close)

Enjoy !

It looks great. Homemade noodles sure beat the ones in stores. I have a manual pasta machine, I need it when TSHTF.

We do use the pasta maker but there is a problem. the clamp doesn't go wide enough for our kitchen counter or our table. I modified one section of the counter and the wife put a bookcase there and now we can't use it.

Been watching this guy for a while now.
I love his little sarcastic remarks in some of his videos.
I remember one where he is cooking by a waterfall and vaguely shows ingredients listed, and then the list randomly says "water from the nearest waterfall".

His best episodes are when he's cooking in his outdoor kitchen with bellows and stone oven.

I don't know what it is about food cooked over an open fire, but it really does make a difference in flavour, maybe it's the wood smoke ?

My favourite outdoor bushwacking meal is just plain ol' bacon and eggs with hashbrowns first thing in the morning and (of course) a strong cup of joe to wash it all down.

The great outdoors.... and food.

It just doesn't get better than that.

Nothing is more human than cooking over an open flame, it brings out the primal instinct in us.
Setup a camp fire in front of anyone and they will gaze into it's licks to the sky for hours on end. My childhood was nothing but camping and fires, nothing makes me happier than a meal cooked over an open flame and a circle of friends and family around a well kept fire pit.

Sounds like we had the same kind of upbringing... lots of fresh air and roughing it in the untamed wilderness.

Spending our childhood staring into bonfires for hours on end instead of a tv.

It's actually pretty hilarious the whole "staring into the fire thing". When you sit around a bonfire with a group of people, they'll all be doing the same thing.... mesmerized by the fire and staring at the flames as they talk to each other.

I guess no matter how far up the evolutionary ladder we go, we all still have a wee bit of wild left in us.

I still do that, only difference is now it's mingled with the screams of the people staked in the middle of it.

Nothing goes better with an open flame 'rump roast' than a side of mustard and sauteed onions.

... and an ice cold beer to wash down the stringy tough bits.
