Multiple People Shot in Manhattan: Sources

The area in question is one of the busiest in Manhattan.

West Street is the West Side Highway. This incident happened about 6 blocks north of the World Trade Center site and about halfway in between the entrances to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and Holland Tunnel. The daily traffic here is huge.

It's a 4 line highway in each direction and on the Western side of the street there is a separate area for bikes and pedestrians.

There's a pedestrian bridge over West Street right where the incident happened which was built because of how busy it is.

I'm not going to jump to any conclusions as to motive etc because as a first responder myself I know how dangerous that can be, but my thoughts and prayers are with the innocent people who were just going about their day when this happened.

At the moment the area is pretty well locked down and will probably remain that way for many hours to come.

Yes they are calling it a terror attack. The driver yelled something troubling I think is how they put it when he exited the vehicle.

I don't think it's the governor unless he just happened to be visiting the city. Probably the mayor.

Yeah, speaking to a couple of responders on the scene that's what I was told as well. Initially it was being put over the radio as a "Home Depot truck" which made people think of those giant ones that deliver furniture and are driven by company employees. The truck used in this incident is made for rental by customers for when someone buys a large appliance or something that won't fit in their car and they can use these pickups for the ride home.

CNN reporting FBI terrorism task force taking over.

Fox reporting the suspect had a BB gun and a paintball gun.

The cops will probably get accused of using excessive force for shooting him by some bleeding hearts.

Fox News is all over calling it a terrorist attack and saying the terrorist was shouting Allah Ackbar. He forgot to suicide himself though. Now he can go to jail.

When a guy just ran over a bunch of pedestrians and he comes out of the vehicle holding what looks like 2 weapons I don't think anyone from any political background would say that the police need to take their time and make sure it's not paintball and an airsoft.

At least I hope no one would say that.

That would just be... wow.

Now he can go to jail.

And convert more inmates to the religion of peace.
