Democratic power lobbyist Tony Podesta, founder of the Podesta Group, is stepping down from the firm that bears his name after coming under investigation by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller.

Podesta announced his decision during a firm-wide meeting Monday morning and is alerting clients of his impending departure.

Podesta is handing over full operational and financial control to longtime firm CEO Kimberley Fritts, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the meeting. Fritts and a senior group of the Podesta team will be launching a new firm in the next one or two days. Sources said the transition has been in the works for the past several months.

And the fallout of the Mueller investigation continues. Doubtless there will be spin aplenty from both sides in regards to who has more mud on them. Interesting that the direction the aftermath of the Mueller investigation seems to be having is not quite what some were hoping for.

It looks like all of this has been having an affect upon the lobbying group for some time:

Podesta Group has struggled in the wake of the Mueller investigation. More than a dozen of its lobbying clients have cut ties with the firm this year, according to lobbying filings. Revenues have also declined: The firm brought in an estimated $4.8 million in the third quarter of 2017, down from $5.2 million in the second quarter of 2017 and from $6.1 million in the third quarter of 2016.

My best shocked face.....

Nice....should be a few more to fall in this though...I don't think it is going to take too long either. If Tony Podesta is stepping down then you can bet something bigger is on the way....while the fallout may have been bad recently for him, you don't step down unless it's about to get much worse....a la Weinstein though probably nothing pedo related...just the fall being similar.

ETA: What a bad time for Hillary to have launched her world book tour.

She is always one step ahead, she comes ok out even if everyone else has to die.

Wouldn't surprise me if she's on the phone screaming out orders as we speak, in an attempt to save her own bacon.

Actually, she's probably tasked Bill with this in a further attempt to cover her ass (in case those on the other end of the line are recording)

It can't be via email, because we all know her email prowess is lacking.

You are quite right. Two reasons you get caught. To Flip on someone else or your pissed someone off and your protection was removed.

She could have Huma Abedin do her emailing for her.

Unless charges are brought against other guilty parties, this looks
like Mueller was simply a way to continue to preserve the protection
Of HRC, and others who were doing quid quo pro deals with Russia.

Once Comey was out they had to get Mueller in asap.

What do you mean? She has the best email skillz in the world and of all history.

She has a magical wiping cloth, that not only makes emails disappear, but renders all investigative authority benign by eliminating their concern for such things. Her email skillz rule! Even the sound of a hammer smashing against cell phones and hard drives can be sufficiently protected from any notice.

She should definitely go into selling textiles. Maybe she could write a book about that.

Spot on!

Their cushy shenanigans that filled their coffers full of foreign money was about to come to a screeching halt when The American People chose Trump. Look at what Obama did in the IC from Nov. 8 to Jan. 20!!

Mueller and Comey were the FBI directors when all this Russia crap, including but not limited to Uranium One, was going down. What were they doing for the past ten years?! Playing tiddlywinks?

I don't know...
If we can jail Martha Stewart, we can certainly jail a crookedly crooked crook like HRC.
(Not that these two women's careers or crimes have anything to do with each other)

The Same James that sent Martha to jail let Hillary skate.

Either he has something against home baked chocolate chip
cookies, or else.... Er...um...well it looks like he was protecting
the candidate that would protect all of them and the past
shady dealings about Uranium One.

Of course, I hope Justice is served, but at this point I am cynical.

the protection Of HRC

The number of immunity deals handed out in the email investigation had more of an effect of a coverup rather than the use of immunity to garner prosecution of those higher up the chain.

Cheryl Mills directed Paul (stonetear) Combetta to alter email archives after they had been subpoenaed. That right there should have negated any immunity of these two which should have brought the whole thing down. I wonder if there will ever be any fallout from this action?

“How Lobbyists Help Ex-Soviets Woo Washington” by Glenn R. Simpson and Mary Jacoby would describe how various top tier americans went into the former Soviet colony to, as they say, help out. There was the notable example of William Sessions, the former head of the FBI, who’d become a lawyer for Semyon Mogilevich, who his former agency considered one of Russia’s most powerful organized crime figures and had the distinction of being on their “most wanted” list. Sessions would approach his former agency with a deal: Mogilevich would provide them with vital information related to Islamist terrorism, if they could work out his legal problems. The FBI turned down the offer321. The European Centre for a Modern Ukraine (ECFMU) was an advocacy group for Viktor Yanukovych and his political bloc, The Party of Regions, co-founded by Leonid Khazara, another Party of Regions member, and Tony Podesta, of the lobby shop the Podesta Group and brother of Clinton chief of staff John Podesta, and it was formed to lobby in favor of Yanukovych and the Party of Regions without registering under the Foreign Agent Act, all of which was described in “How Foreign Governments Make Sure You Don’t Know They’re Lobbying You” by Rosie Gray322.

I see a couple of familiar names in the above excerpt. Funny how some of these same people keep coming up again and again, isn't it?

For sure. Mueller will have no credibility if he doesn't go after Podesta. Podesta did all the same stuff as Manafort, except he was working for the Democrats. This is the point where Hillary and Obama will unavoidably get dragged into the investigation, because they are close associates of the Podestas.

They might, but don't expect them to fall.

If they go down, then a lot of folks will start to look back at Trump. Remember, it's not about who actually did or did not do a thing anymore. It's all about what's fair.

For some, it's not fair that Clinton was brought up for impeachment over lying under oath and no Republican president has had that happen since. It's not about whether it has or hasn't happened. It's about tit for tat.

If Manafort goes down for this and one or both of the Podestas go down, then it's fair which is all that matters for today's version of political justice.

It was actually a shrewd move by tony podesta to step down today.

He knows the media cycle will be all about the indictments, and so this way it flys under the radar.

It won't get past Mueller or any of the other five investigative committee's looking into past crimes.

Essentially, they believe what burntheships does... that Mueller is providing cover for HRC.

Probably had the heads up and was the leaker of the coming indictment himself for exactly that reason. He definitely has the connections to know if he wanted.

I don't think Podesta is going to be aviable for comment for a long time .Or he will be needed at the Manford trial but I think Manford's tax issues misses the timing . Muller will still need to find that Russian link he was tasked to do so Tony could still end up in the game but it seems Muller is trying to work around that . I think Trump at the end of the day will be cleaner then squeaky because of the radio active nature of what they really want to hide .

Good reminder of how this may go down in a similar way.

Podesta will have a year or bleach bit his emails,
and other cover up. He can always claim he had no intent.

Or if that doesn't work he can claim ignorance.

I hope I am wrong... Just looks like this is just enough to keep
A lot of people still thinking The Counsel is "on" it.

It is beyond anything!
