Like most people do with Netflix, I stumbled onto Mindhunter, and thought I would give it a shot. I have already recommended this series to my sister and good friend, although Ive gotten through just 4 episodes.

This is essentially about the revolution of detective work/the FBI via the introduction of psychology - trying to better understand serial killers and how to track & identify them as early as possible. There is solid character development as you get deeper and deeper into the series, I have found. And the dynamics among the shows characters are strong. The interviews conducted with the different killers in prison has been the most intriguing aspect of the show, but the fight the FBI agents are having with the department heads to have behavioral science become an integral part of investigations is interesting as well.

I recommend this series.

Any one check out Quantico yet? I see it on Netflix too and is somewhat similar to Mindhunter.

I might watch that next.

Im watching this show now, up to episode 7 so far.
It's pretty good, not great but still a good watch.
I loved the first guy they interviewed.

If you enjoyed this show watch man hunter unibomber also on Netflix.
Very similar but I felt it was better. I binge watched that one.

I liked stranger things, but have a feeling they will drop the ball on season two.
It happens on to many shows now.

I like the mind hunter show for the most part, but they put in crap it doesn't need.
Do we really need the graphic sex scenes with the main character?
Or the autistic kid with the other?
I get how they need to show how their work gets taken home and has consequences but it feels like to much.

It took me a while to get to watch it as I feared it would be gruesome slashing all the way. When I saw it wasn't, it took me a week to watch it all...
haha

@Bluntone22 Yeah, I thought too the sex scenes were not necessary. Maybe they just wanted to show that a gay actor can play a straight believably? The other little "craps" they put in is surely for character development continuity for next season. But I have to admit, not seeing the cat was a big disappointment for me. At least, we got to see maggots... lol

Anyways, I liked the show and it will be nice watching season 2 when it comes out.

I think Quantico will be more action oriented, but I thought that too for Mindhunter, so... I don't know.

Already finished. Looking forward to season two.

While we're recommending Netflix if you haven't seen Fracture with Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling I highly recommend that too.

I saw that a couple of weeks ago. Also very good.

I know I have strange movie tastes for a woman. I never really was the Cinderella type. Most romantic comedies are just too lame for me. Movies that feature strong women however I do like.

I already watched the whole season. Personally, I found it very troubling.
I find it easy to relate to others and empathize, which makes exposure to such psychologies troubling for me at first.

So often killers have a problem with their mother - our first symbol of "other" or not self. If you are a mother it sparks all kinds of questions like how can I be so that none of my offspring end up a serial killer??? Because sometimes the mother is seriously abusive or neglectful, but sometimes not. Sometimes she was just normal, but the father was absent (physically or emotionally). It ends up not truly being a problem with the mothers behavior - but from the point of view of the killer, it is often seen as starting from there. -Which is the scary part of looking through their eyes.

My stepmother does psychological assesments of violent criminals in prisons and is extremely good at entering their shoes, and stepping out of them at the end of the day. But she also never had kids of her own, which is probably the best way to stay good at this!

I watched the entire first season in 2 days. It is very good. First of all, it is a story that I'm interested in, the beginning of the "profiling" unit of the FBI. Secondly, the writing is fantastic, realistic, and very creepy at times. The biggest positive about the show, to me, is the casting. Each actor is fantastic in this show, especially the serial killers. The guy who plays Kemper is amazing.
