No, the appeal is for the dishonorable discharge. It would overturn it, and reduce it to a general discharge or something lesser.

...well, if they want to go about destroying moral, this is the way to do it. Let the sniveling little coward walk away with a general discharge, rather than jail, and a dishonorable--or hanging him.

A sad update to this story.

National Guard Master Sgt. Mark Allen was on a mission to gather information in two Afghan villages in July 2009 when his unit was ambushed by insurgents using small arms, machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades.

So good ol' Bowe can add another accolade to the story of his sordid life.

Rest well Master Sgt. You served honorably and well, unlike the lowlife coward you were trying to rescue.
