I, among many, MANY, others are sick to death of politics topics here, but in my case, at least, it’s mainly due to everyone slandering everyone else in a passive aggressive (but more often than not, directly aggressive) way.

“Oh look/right at the left and what they’ve done and want because every person who supports so and so is identical and fits neatly into my preconceived view of what a person who supports so and so is like”.

I don’t give a damn if you support trump, or if you support Hillary, or if you’re conservative, or if you’re a liberal.

What I do care about is your own personal opinions.

Anyway, off with the rant and on with the topic.

What actually makes a president qualified to be depicted as the person who leads the US? (This can be said about any countries leader. I’m focusing on the US because it’s actions effect all of us directly Moreso than most other countries)

Out of the following traits, list in order what you find to be the TOP 5 most valuable attribute to the least from top to bottom:

- intelligence
- wisdom
- open-mindedness
- forcefulness
- knowledge
- educated
- ruthlessness
- empathic
- tactful
- honesty
- deceiving
- self conscious
- humility
- gentle
- well spoken
- argumentative
- overly cautious
- compulsive
- generous
- sophisticated

Keep I mind that this isn’t about any current standing or previous president, but rather you opinion on a leaders traits

Please add the following to your list:

-Black Belt in Kung-Fu.

-Superior paper-mache skills.

-Can drive big trucks - the ones that go shh-cht when you shift.

-Can hold their breath for over 2 minutes.

-Won a hot dog eating contest at some point - but with pics to prove it.

You find a man or woman with those talents...you got yourself one hell of a president.

Edit - Sorry ladies, I left you out. Now it says man or woman.
Your welcome.

Having enough self-confidence to have faith in delegating authority to other people.

Part of the presidents job is to write law or at least approve them. Being a lawyer might come in handy.

We've seen what an outsider who knows nothing has done . This is not what our country or the world needs.

Interesting...no one has yet cited the single most important requirement: Leadership. Yes, it is a skill made up of many different character traits but it really needs to go to the top of the heap.

Must accept what God speaks to him/her while campaigning. If not, then he/she will be the president.

-Superior paper-mache skills.

That, or origami.
Think of how cool a press conference would be.
CNN would be arguing whether the President made a swan or a goose.

Leadership for who?
I believe the leadership should be for ones own shadow of integrity.

Integrity
Integrity is the qualifications of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. It is generally a personal choice to hold oneself to consistent moral and ethical standards.

OK...top two. Leadership without integrity is dangerous, and integrity without leadership is impotent.

I appreciate your approach but perhaps we could add to the list?

Integrity (different than "being religious" or "claiming a set of values") is extremely important and also very difficult to do in politics.

Some people prefer a "Christian" president and that should also be on the list. While it is not a "quality" it is something people feel strongly about. (Not me so much. It's too easy to fake being a member of a religion.)

Anyway.

For making the effort.

1. Wisdom
2. Intelligence
3. Compulsive
4. Tactful
5. Overly Cautious

I think they're all actually pretty important.
Even ruthless deception can have it's place when you are dealing with the needs of so many.
