Wow the first few posts on this topic are really disappointing. Just full of haters.

Tom DeLonge truly is a dedicated and serious UFOlogy researcher, and is probably our next best bet in this field that consists mostly of charlatans, hoaxers, and people looking to make money, and it is as evident in a lot of the music he wrote over the years that he has always had an interest in the subject one way or another. It's not often we see a millionaire rockstar somewhat retire and focus on what interests him, especially on a subject that instantly attracts hate and ridicule. I can only see honest interest here, I don't see greed or fame seeking like I see in most of all the others in this field.

I also don't see how attempting to get resources together to make things happen is a bad thing. You want him to just waste all his money on this subject? He still has family to support.

I think the problem here is most of you see the word "announcement" and expect some Earth shattering information every time, and you get your hopes up. Then you all get upset when its just a regular announcement outlining a road-map for the next step in UFOlogy, or the announcement is delayed for whatever reason.

Why can't you all work together, stop the hate, and get serious if you are serious about this subject. Otherwise, leave your ridicule and hate at the door, you are not helping.

He's competing with Steven Greer now.

Nobody hates the guy, were just tied of BS

If he had a problem within the 60 days, give us an update or something.

Apologize and say…” Give me a little more time"

He didn’t have the respect for the people to do that is disappointing and reflects on his character.

One has to respect the people and they’ll respect you.

DeLonge has nothing to reveal and yet he is asking for money!? To what end if you have nothing to show for it. At least most Kickstarters have a product to sell at the end of the money grab.

Tom, i know you *snip* but just stop already no need to be embarrassed it happens to the best of us.

no one here takes you seriously because you made yourself look like a liar or at best pushing some money making agenda ala CE5.

if you truly have something worth sharing then share it, if your 'sources' GAVE you this information then why should everyone have to pay to play? if you are deemed worth of public support then you'll get it.

I for one think we (ATS) are being way harsh (and a little stupid in some cases)... That said, I get it, there is nothing new here in the realm of "show me aliens now".

Why anyone thought there would be is beyond me, but I can see how the uninitiated could twist the hype into that. That is/was a mistake on both sides IMO.

What we do have here for the first time, in history, is a gaggle of "elite managers of science and technology" who have openly declared they will pursue UFO reports without the typical prejudice or government mandated cover up, IF they have the funding to do so.

That's BIG.

How BIG? I don't know, but I do know it's a helluva lot bigger than anything we've had yet. Don't invest if you can't or don't want to, they never said that was mandatory, nor did they say you had to invest to be in the know of what, if anything, they discover.

Comparing this to Greer is just ludicrous. Greer had zero future research set up and zero committed experts on board to do research. The fact they've set up an organization staffed with the "elite" minds of the planet is a big deal in and of itself. It may ultimately generate zero in the way of actual produce, *especially if they fail to generate revenue*, but it's still a big step beyond what's come before it.

Don't let the crowd funding throw you, this stuff costs millions a week when you engage with national labs and elite scientists. Trust me on this, I know first hand, we (ATS) tried to create something just like this way back in 2007. The lack of huge money was what killed our efforts.

I ask you this, where would you prefer the money come from? The governments who have kept secrets? Corporations who would seek to keep them even more so they could churn out patented products??

Just to clear up any potential B.S. from my statement above upfront, ATS has ZERO to gain from this and has ZERO financial interest, or connections to this.

The preceding is my personal 35 years experience in this field's perspective on this new outfit. I've been wrong before and will be wrong again but I am truly rooting for these guys.

To do everything he has set out to do he is going to need a team of 100 scientists.
I don't think you can just contract this sought of research out to contractors you need permanent staff + lab equipment + engineering/fabrication capability + materials + general operating costs.
$100 million a year bare minimum.

There will be no grand revelation because nobody has any idea, and the "ET hypothesis" is just that. There's something to it, and it's sometimes important, for good or ill. John Keel probably got as close as anyone will get to making sense of the stuff, while acknowledging he was guessing. We're all guessing. Once you take away experimental military/surveillance craft and all the usual explanations, there's still a solid 5% (even in Blue Book!) that is something crazy. Maybe we dream it up, manifest it as sky mandalas, like Jung suggested. Maybe they're intelligent temporary plasma forms, like UK MoD suggested about black triangles. Whatever it is, it's likely much closer to what Moses saw on the mountain, because we know that stuff has been going on for as long as humans could tell stories.

I hope we figure out more about all this, too!

Looking at this objectively here are the main obstacles. The public funding will not be even remotely close to what they are going to need. As you so rightly pointed out they are going to need millions to effectively manage operations, conduct research, pay for laboratories, scientists, etc. And they are going to need a much, much larger team spanning all manner of disciplines.

As an aside if Delonge is going to be the one who does the story telling then they are doomed. He's not a good story teller plain and simple.

However, this is what I see will be his biggest obstacle.

Here is a quote directly from Delonge:

“there is sufficient credible evidence of UAP that proves exotic technologies exist that could revolutionize the human experience.” The Science divison will conduct the research, which will also include consciousness, engineering space-time, brain-computer interface, genomics, and creating a database of supranormal experiences. Aerospace will apply the science to create “next-generation energy and propulsion concepts for transportation and spaceflight that could forever change movement across land, water, air”, and Entertainment will offer “informative storytelling that provides insight into the journey and provokes curiosity in the profound yet unresolved mysteries of the world.”

My question is how are they going to conduct research on something unless they have that something in their possession? The military controls access to and the research of anything that has ever been recovered. This is the one obstacle I see as insurmountable even if they somehow manage to get the funding they will need.

The way I see it the crowdfunding part is mainly to sell shares to the people, putting (part of) the project/accountability in the hands of the shareholders. It's not they need the money cause I think TDL could have invested this himself if he wanted to, and as you state what they are trying to do is way more costly.

Interesting times.

Where does it say I will get a saleable share of stock in their efforts on their way to building a quantum hyperdrive or anything!? This is worse than the most shady Kickstarter. I know other published researchers that enlist scientists assistance, some at Livermore Labs, and they aren’t begging for money. Maybe DeLonge and Jaime Mausaan are teaming up!? This isn’t big, this is a scam and might even blow up on DeLonge with the SEC.

Honestly, if there was any there, there DELonge would have been able to get Private Venture Capitalists with more money than they need. DeLonge is not the conduit to our future and this cash grab shows his feeble hand.

You’re right this doesn’t compare to Greer...this is worse! DeLonge would get laughed off Shark Tank TV show.

Maybe you are right, but in all honesty I hope you are not (no offense intended).

For now they have my benefit of the doubt, something they can loose quickly depending on what they'll release.

I just want serious proper and scientific research of certain topics without it being ridiculed. There are still some things that don't add up (why make a craft if it allready exists according to the 'fact based' fiction novel).

The info and possible conclusions that will be released on their media channel is also something they (seem to) control. It is possible they'll dripfeed allready known (false?) info.

These are all question marks I'm aware of. But if it is scientific, things can be proven or debunked.

Still curious where this will go...

If there is such a craft.
1) They don't own it. It belongs to the DOD
2) It would be highly classified and they would be going straight to jail.

My take on this is research was probably carried out in the past but it wasn't successful so they lost funding.
These retired guys know something about that research and want a second chance in making it a reality

I have questions for everyone here. How many of you TDL enthusiasts, the ones calling for people to give him a chance, are/were Blink 182 famous/girls?

How many of you who didn't get excited by his foray into UFOlogy (like me, who wouldn't get excited about any celebrity doing so) really didn't like his music (like me)? I suspect that your position on him as a UFOlogist goes hand in hand with that of his music.

Personally, I sort of fall into that category, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but his lack of respect for the people in the UFO Community is blatantly obvious, if you promise something in an allotted time frame, if you can't deliver, you make a statement, you tell those devoted to your cause, unless you don't have Amy respect for them. This is what nailed the coffin shut for me...

It’s the consciousness aspect that I hope gets some early and immediate funding if this does take off. The spending breakdown does say that the experience database will be one of the first things to be created, so for any OOBEer such as myself, this is exactly what I’d like to see. I was invited up to Aberdeen University around 2001 to take part in tests for this reason, but as a student I couldn’t afford the travel £££. Big regret. They should try getting in with the universities.

I don't think ATS is being too harsh. De Longe has promised a reveal for a looong time, and it's already beyond tired.

I say to Tom, put up or shut-up, cut the crap with your stage managed 'big reveals'.

quite disappointing "big announcement" indeed. to me this was a pretty poor and desperate sounding sales-pitch on an empty stage in an empty theater without a defined product behind it.

all i got was somebody tell me "to imagine a white and oblong thing"
and that they would attempt to build the "impossible".
maybe we get brain interfaces and some entertainment...
oh and it will "change the world".

a mystery conveniently hidden deep down in the mud of the military industrial complex.
according to Tom Delonge the truth is scary and once we know the truth we will all agree that those that kept the truth from us for so long are heroes.

but instead of breaking the wall of secrecy and make the truth known to all people on earth- as promised initially (?) - Tom and his team will re-create it using imagination.
and make entertainment out of it. infotainment. ok

disappointing but no surprise.
