You know what they say, do what makes you happy and you'll never work a day in your life.

People should do what they're good at.

Is that why you're such a world renowned fluffer?

Oh... I never saw that! I also, have never thanked a mod for an applause, because it said not to reply.
I guess, without thinking too much, I assumed they just didn't want these actions discussed for some reason.

Thank you to the people who gave me applause in the past!!
I apologize for not having reached out and expressed that gratitude at the time!

I've gotten an applause message a time to two as well (God knows why, low standards?
).

I too would have maybe sent a thanks back had I known.

I know, right?

I'm about as profound as Budweiser.

An applause is a thank you for an exceptional contribution to the boards.
If you wish to say thanks in return, which is never necessary but it is always appreciated,
just make sure you address it to the staff member directly so they see it.

You got it! I've tried usually to p. m. the particular mod giving me the 500 points-applause from time to time.

It's cool and I know they appreciate us... appreciating them!

I did not know this either, so here is my applause for all the applause I've been given:

I greatly appreciate being recognized for my contributions, however sparse they may be

Thank you to the mods, but people, please remember that they are human and can be quite funny sometimes.

I had a great comment. A mod sent me an applause for my effort.

The next day, another mod came along and scrubbed the comment for a manners violation.

I laughed, it was great.

Differing POVs can have different outcomes. They are all human.

Applauding members is one of the best things we mods get to do around here....IMHO.

And, thanks are always welcome and appreciated.
Mods don't get applauded, so when a member say thanks....well, it is like an applause to me.
Not necessary, but very nice.

Oh shoot, thanks mods! Thanks for the warnings and whatnot too. Some of us like to kick back a few beers and get fiesty when the lines are blurred.

Its actually easy enough to do.

When you receive applause, the MOD who gives that applause will be named in the alert. Just click reply, copy their name, delete the address line (which will read FORUM STAFF), and paste in the MOD's name. All you have to do then, is write a little note of thanks, and hit send!
