SHORT STORY WRITERS CONTEST for OCTOBER 2017

"MURDER WITNESS" [MW2017]

Our current contest winner FauxMulder has chosen the theme "MURDER WITNESS" for this months contest!

In their own words:

"Your character witnesses a murder.
All the details of who, what, where, when, why, and where the story goes from there are up to the writer of course."

So, all Short Story Entries for this contest must relate to that theme.

Video submissions are not acceptable this time around.
Photos and Music ARE allowed this time.

Rules Of Entry

The contest will run from NOW to Thurs 26th October 2017.
(Any submissions after that date will be disqualified.)

A period of ONE WEEK after the closing of the contest will be provided for voting.

All T&C's Apply.

All entries MUST include [MW2017] in the title.

All entries must be linked in this thread, and please include [writer] or [non-writer] in your submission post within this thread.

There is no minimum or maximum character count, and the entry can be submitted over one or more posts, but please bear in mind that it is a SHORT STORY contest!

Also, please END your submission with "THE END" so that everyone is clear that your entry is complete.

1 Single Story Submission is allowed Per Member.

There will be 3 winners among members who already have "Writer" status, prizes as follows:

1st Place -- 5 Applause, and selection of the next contest theme
2nd Place -- 3 Applause
3rd Place -- 1 Applause

There will also be 3 winners from the non-writer category who will receive the following:

1st Place -- 3 Applause & Writer Status
2nd Place -- 2 Applause & Writer Status
3rd Place -- 1 Applause

Scoring

Flags will be worth 2 points each.
Stars will be worth 1 point each.
*Stars for subsequent posts (ie. additions to the story after the initial story post) will be worth 0.5 points.

I think not much... But this was my first time participating too. I think all you have to do is be a member of ATS so you can post, and follow the rules provided in the OP here.

The Short Story Writers Contests are open to all ATS members!
The theme is usually chosen by the winner of the previous writers contest.

Non-writers can earn their writer status by doing well in these contests.
Writers can earn the right to choose the next theme.
"Applause" is also earned by those who make it to the podium(s)!

Votes are cast by ATS members in the form of awarding FLAGS and STARS to their favourite story threads and posts.

All usual ATS T&C's apply, and the full Rules are in the OP.

That was made plural intentionally.

I think we are meant to witness the murder, not commit it. Your enthusiasm seems to indicate a desire for a more hands-on experience than simply watching... though I admit I find the idea exercising a strange fascination on me....mwahahahahaha
