Sadam hussein had a larger nzd more advanced military. Within a week it was destroyed. To assume an amateur military force without supplies to even feed it's troops would do better is silly. North Korea's only hope is that fatty Kim realizes this before he ends up hiding from us troops in a ditch in someone's backyard.

Saddams Army consisted of 375,000 troops and 80,000 special forces and was using 20 year old weaponry all condensed in one part of the region. North Korea consists of 3,725,000 and have modern weaponry and military infrastructure.

Now please tell me how that equates to Saddams Army being larger in any way shape or form.

Modern weaponry? According to who? Most of their naval forces are small, older surface surface ships and subs (the majority of which are mini subs incapable of offensive operations), their best air defense asset is a clone of the S300, which while good has been around for awhile. Their most modern fighter is an upgraded MiG-29, of which they had less than 5.

Their forces are anything but modern.

Once any conflict happens Russia will start giving them multiple modern defense platforms. That’s if china doesn’t give them a hand either.

If either one of those two step in on the Korean side of the conflict we lose. Simple as that.

America can’t even win against guerilla fighters in the jungle. They intervened against an already beaten Germany and claimed it was a victory for the US. What do you think would happen against three superpowers that’s rooted in military.

Americans can’t even get off the couch, you expect them to fight a war?

So they're going to get modern systems that they don't know how to operate and have no training on, and somehow know how to use them?

The relationship between Russia, China, and North Korea is not what it used to be. Russia is not the close ally that they used to be. China has already said that if North Korea starts something, they're staying neutral. Russia isn't going to get dragged into it either this time. They have too much to lose.

If either of them did step in however, that would not automatically mean we lose the war against North Korea. You are overestimating their capabilities, and giving them a huge advantage. It will be a lot bloodier, but they're not some war gods who are invincible and can beat anyone in any fight.

Oh yes, of course. The US is pathetic when it comes to war. I keep forgetting. They couldn't beat guerrillas in a jungle because they were forced to fight with both hands tied behind their back. But sure, just keep going on about how we can't fight and everyone else miraculously knows how to use advanced equipment they've never touched before.

You got one thing right, if war does breakout most Americans will probably watch it from their couch. That's what happened during the Gulf War. : ) The rest you have wrong, nobody wins at war.

I wonder if Trump's flag offensive is a prelude to a real war.

I'm serious.

Absolute bottom line for Kim, is he dies if he strikes first.
If that did not bother him, he would have done that by now.
He would die if we struck first as well, but there is no reason to sacrifice the stalemate, which is firmly in our favor.

You do realize how unbelievably difficult it is to target someone that’s underground right? Look at the battle of Iwo Jima 10 day shelling of a small island and didn’t even dent the Japanese forces. How is the US going to target one specific man without spending billions shelling the entire country, even then it’s not even guaranteed.

Winning a battle in North Korea is infinitely harder than people actually realize. We can’t even win the Middle East with the enemies using weapons from the 80’s. What are we going to do when we actually have to go against a superpower? What happens if other super powers intervene for their support? America would lose 9 times out of 10.

This isn't artillery anymore, we have weapons build for underground targets.

Second, it seems like you completely forgot Operation Desert Storm when we destroyed the world's 4th largest military in days.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but it seems that China is the only grownup in this mess. They have to deal with the slobbering man-children Trump and Kimmy. TheLotLizard

Yea sure.

1. We had 4+ months of massive build up for Iraq. A full blown Korean War will eat up supplies, ammunition, and fuel faster than anyone will believe.

2. The large mechanized engagements happened mostly on open ground with very little tree covered mountainous terrain.

3. Didn't have Russia or China near by.

4. Didn't have to fight against well hidden prepared defensive positions that have been constantly upgraded for 50+ years. Tunnels man. Horror.

5. Didn't have to deal with massive prepositioned artillery numbers that are ready to turn a 10 million person city into a holocaust.

6. Didn't have to deal with the possibile destruction of a very large exporter of very important technology. You like that fancy stuff at the hospital that saves you? You like your mobile phone? Internet?

7. Didn't have to worry about Saddam launching an EMP attack on North America. Electricity is nice. Let's you watch your NFL, complain about some black guy kneeling, and keeps your water-downed beer cold. Like heat? Food? Medicine?

7. Didn't have to deal with a very organized society that has been brainwashed for 4 generations.

8. Asian Culture is way more complicated than Middle East culture. Ask a WWII Pacific theatre vet. Or a Vietnam vet. Or a Korean War vet.

9. Our Navy didn't have to deal with the threat of Carrier Busting Nuke Torpedoes. You think the USN is as honed on ASW as they were back in the 80's? We have been too busy bombing nomads with impunity.

10. Didn't have to worry about kicking off a world wide depression. You like you 401k?

This MURIC'A d**k waving could turn the world into an inescapable living hell. You got loved ones? I do.

This isn't a game.
This isn't simple.
This isn't some situation that will not directly affect the mainland USA.
THIS SURE AS HELL ISNT IRAQ.

We will win a Korean War eventually- as long as it doesn't start WWIII
But what is going to happen during the time that takes?

How much death and chaos are acceptable to you as you watch Fox News?

Oh and BTW: Please don't breed.

You cant compare North Korea to Iraq. The topografi of NK is in no way as flat as Iraq.
NK also have more advanced air defence systems then what Iraq had. NK also have the largest manpad force in the world, with different types of stingers.
The US are not just going to fly into north Korea and drop their bunkerbusters. The US are going to be in fore wakeup call If they think IT is going to be as easy as that.

Russia and China are not going to just sit and let the US ingage NK. Russia have already shown that they will challenge the US on the battlefield....something the US never thought that they would do. Russia and China have already demonstrated this by gearing up along the NK boarder and along the sea of Japan.

War with North Korea will not happen unless the North start it. The North have habit of belligerence and provocative military attacks against the South particularly.

The worry for the whole region is that the North is so barking mad that they will do something truly unforgivable, and that will solicit a reaction. If that happens then it may be as simple as killing the leadership.

America hasn't won a war since ww2,you seen very confident that you will this time.

May I ask what do you think has changed recently that will bring this hypothetical win to fruition?

The NK military is not modern in any sense but it is large and possesses what Saddam's forces did not. The fanatical belief that cult indoctrination provides. The enemy they've been taught against their whole lives is at thier door, they will fight.

Also, the terrain bears no resemblance to the ideal conditions for airborne massacre that Iraq did.

The outcome isn't in doubt but the bodycount to get there will be unlike anything in recent history.

Only an idiot would want a war. The South Koreans don't want a war because Seoul is in range of artillery from the North. Plus if they won a war and unification happened then they'd have a financial bill that would dwarf the one that West Germany paid to modernise East Germany. North Korea is a giant armpit.

Might as well calm your boners, nothing is going to happen.

Reasons for various hypothetical wars, and much more probable ones, have been extensively discussed on here and have never happened. And scenarios in which action was more likely than this, still didn't amount to anyrhing.

Otherwise...that'd be where conspiracy comes in

I would be very surprised if anything came of it, I am more interested in the mindset of people who want war, there are quite a few even on these boards.
