"V

Words move, music moves
Only in time; but that which is only living
Can only die. Words, after speech, reach
Into the silence. Only by the form, the pattern,
Can words or music reach
The stillness, as a Chinese jar still
Moves perpetually in its stillness.
Not the stillness of the violin, while the note lasts,
Not that only, but the co-existence,
Or say that the end precedes the beginning,
And the end and the beginning were always there
Before the beginning and after the end.
And all is always now. Words strain,
Crack and sometimes break, under the burden,
Under the tension, slip, slide, perish,
Decay with imprecision, will not stay in place,
Will not stay still. Shrieking voices
Scolding, mocking, or merely chattering,
Always assail them. The Word in the desert
Is most attacked by voices of temptation,
The crying shadow in the funeral dance,
The loud lament of the disconsolate chimera.
The detail of the pattern is movement,
As in the figure of the ten stairs.
Desire itself is movement
Not in itself desirable;
Love is itself unmoving,
Only the cause and end of movement,
Timeless, and undesiring
Except in the aspect of time
Caught in the form of limitation
Between un-being and being.
Sudden in a shaft of sunlight
Even while the dust moves
There rises the hidden laughter
Of children in the foliage
Quick now, here, now, always -
Ridiculous the waste sad time
Stretching before and after."

(I hope ATS does not mind the whole poem being there. It is just for ease for the other member as a response).

I'm an artist. Everything else is secondary....

Well you and I both know how crazy we are. I love art so much. I am being psychologically artistic here. We can as adults play with out minds and others in a good way, in a constructive way, to gain insight. I have learned so much here about others and myself, just by listening patiently and responding, as we all do in a place like ATS.

Art is a life. Some have given their very lives for it. Your response is not extreme. Passionate for your medium and your creativity. Best way to be.

My favourite likes are Jesus, Music, Poetry, Women and that little green girl that I am only permitted to talk about in code.

Hi again. I would like to answer to your OP question again, in a less dramatic and depressed way.

I quoted a pretty solid list from you, but for me instead of Jesus it is God, and poetry would not make it to the top-likes of life. I like it, small doses, sometimes, but not a fan.

That was a very nice post, thank you.

And I agree with you.

I'm on the mediterranean, where there is no waves! I grew up on the coast of Southern California. I miss the waves...
But then, look how I live- I restrict myself, put down lines, so that I can savor crossing them one day. If you could eat chocolate cake everyday it would lose it's magic.
I guess i was destined for France, where people value the delicious breaking of rules....

Maybe I am bi-polar? I don't know. I don't seem to have any predictable cycles, but I obviously appreciate the ebb and flow of the tides.
